Hi,
Congratulations on your interview! I had mine the beginning of January. The interview day was very relaxed and the staff put you at ease. The day consisted of a short written task, which was basically to make sure you can write and use punctuation etc. There was a group task, where we had to work in groups of 4-5, which was straight forward and again quite relaxed. The individual interview only lasted 10 minutes, and involved answering 4-5 questions. There were no 'trick' questions, and i was basically asked 'why i wanted to be a teacher?', 'current issues in teaching', and a few others which i cant remember now! Questions you would expect to be asked i suppose. I would make sure you research current teaching issues, as i think this was a question they asked everyone.
I hope this helps a little! Good Luck!

Ah brilliant, that sounds like a fairly nice interview day.
Is it easy for everyone to put their points across in the group work scenarios? I had an interview recently where if you weren't the most confident person in the group of four, noone got a word in edge ways which was really cringey and noone came out looking good haha.
How long it did last for also?

Good luck with your application, I'm presuming you won't have heard back yet if you had the interview earlier in the month and thanks for the reply!

Just seen this - so apologises for the delay in responding.

I had my interview early December and can echo emma1410's comments. The staff were very reassuring throughout, explaining what they were looking for in the written task, more to the point not to worry if you made little mistakes and that they wouldn't be overly concerned if you scored them out.

All in all a very good day. Followed by nearly 6 weeks of agonising waiting, mainly down to the Christmas break and TDA allocations being late. Found out the other week that I got an unconditional offer - chuffed to bit.

Good look for your interview and enjoy the day. Andy

The group task lasted around 45 minutes if i remember rightly. It was fairly relaxed and everyone got to put their point of view across..to be honest everyone was very friendly and nobody appeared overly competitive with each other! I was very lucky and only had to wait five days after my interview to find out id been offered a place.

Awh thanks for the replies guys, you've put my mind at ease a bit more now!

And congrats on the offers
My subject is Geography. I had to do a presentation on an aspect of geography. Mine was fine because I didn't sure any props just talked and it was in front of one interviewer so it wasn't too bad! I was made to feel really relaxed  You will be fine when you get started with the interview, the staff are lovely and they make you feel at ease. The questions I got asked were nothing to do with the sample ones that came in the pack, they were al geography questions which made you answer on the spot! Just be yourself and good luck

heya, I am currently doin my undergrad degree at goldsmiths and have also had an interview for the goldsmiths pgce (on 20th jan) and am still waiting to hear back..
just to let you guys know, 'stop' 100% means they need more time to consider your application...but the good news is i have heard around my uni that they r taking on more students this year for the primary pgces..
regarding the maths paper, do not worry too much, it is fairly simple and is very short...also, your interview letter will tell you what you need to revise for it (and will do the same for the english test)..
good luck, and for those who are still waiting to hear, hope you hear soon!

My interviewer said that they have been allocated more places because they are doing well - but because they are doing well they've had more applications :frown: My interview was on the 20th too and I still havent heard back! They said it would be between 1 and 2 weeks so hopefully soon! x
It was just writing, they wanted to check your spelling and grammar mostly as far as I was aware, and also that your writing style is alright. No maths, no need to worry! (although if you get a place there are maths tests when you are on the course!).

Presentation was a bit stressful as we only had ten minutes to prepare. They watched how we worked together in a group and I guess wanted to make sure our presentation skills were adequate but there was no pressure for it to be perfect with such a short prep time. I think its better than when you know the topic in advance though because you can really over read into it I think. We also discussed the topic in a group afterwards so make sure you listen to other peoples!

Helloo, i had mine on 1st december and got an offer!
they were all really nice so dont worry  first we had registration then we had a talk which lots of parents went too then we went on a tour of the campus. The we went to do the group task where there was lots of books on the table we looked at them all then had to discuss what we liked etc then they asked a few questions. Then we did a maths test which was pretty basic but make sure you know prime numbers and stuff like that! then we did an english comp but it was based on animals in the classroom adv and disadv etc but theyre mainly looking at spelling/grammar etc! just smile and be really nice and youll be fine!
hope this helps!x
I have an offer for secondary chem from goldsmiths. The selection was quite long - a chat with the course leader, each of us introducing ourselves and giving a brief history of why we wanted to teach, then our presentations to each other (which are timed with a stop watch!) and then a written test before the 1-2-1 interview.

It wasn't too stressful and there were only 4 of us on the day of my interview.

Good luck

How did yours go? Hope it went well! What was the presentation task given to you? Hope it was nothing too difficult!

Best Wishes,

I had my interview at the start of December and had to do the 3 minute presentation. I took in some art that I had done in my spare time and a piece that I had helped a Year 2 child make during work experience and related both to what kind of teacher I want to be. They are really tight on the 3 minutes but it went really quick and was really laid back; it was only to a tutor and 3 other applicants. The rest of the day was ok as well!

I heard back about a fortnight ago that I have got a place on the course so if you want any more advice or info let me know. Good luck!!

Hii

I have my interview tomorrow for the history specialism, getting nervous now! haa for some reason i thought i had to take the green 'Declaration of suitability' sheet on the day with me but i have just re-read it and it says send prior to your interview.. just wondering are they strict about it cause i was just going to take it with me tomorrow?
Hi everyone
I have an interview at Warwick for Primary PGCE next week - I was wondering if anyone here has either already had an interview or has one soon?
Anyone that's already been, what was it like? I'm a bit worried about the group task as there is no information about that yet. Any unexpected questions? Any tips?

Thanks!! :smile::smile:
Does anyone have any tips on what to speak about in regards to current issues in teaching?
