Ask ACCA - We're supporting National Apprenticeship Week
Hi,
My name is Laura and I am the official rep on TSR for ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). We are supporting National Apprenticeship Week 2012, find out more at www.accaglobal.com/apprenticeships
If you have any questions about our qualifications (ACCA or Foundations in Accountancy), I am online all day today answering your queries.
Thanks,
Laura -
Re: Ask ACCA - We're supporting National Apprenticeship Week
Hi and welcome to TSR, I have 2 proper questions, and a bit of a silly one

Does your Foundations of Accounting qualification for school leavers give you UCAS points? In case after you do it you then want to go on to University?
I've seen here what support the ACCA offer to ACCA qualification students can you tell me are there opportunities to meet other students and work or socialise together? Is there a forum or online community like TSR for them?
Finally, if you were to ask a bloke in a pub what the dullest jobs in the world were he would mention Accountancy in his top 5. Can you tell me please what does the ACCA do to proactively improve the reputation and stature of Accounting to showcase it as a dynamic and exciting profession?
Out of interest what professions would you say are far more dull?
Thank youLast edited by spongepantssquarebob; 10-02-2012 at 15:25. -
Re: Ask ACCA - We're supporting National Apprenticeship Week
Hi spongepantssquarebob,
Thank you for your questions!
1) UCAS points are not awarded for any of our Foundations in Accountancy qualifications. Foundations in Accountancy is an alternative to college/a-levels, and leads directly into the ACCA Qualification.
2) If you study via a learning provider, you will be alongside others doing the same qualification, and can network while studying. Also, we have dedicated Linked In network and Facebook group where people often ask questions and debate topics.
3) Everything ACCA does, strives to show that accounting is a dynamic and exciting profession - we love to profile people from all around the world who work in a range of fast-paced roles, in all industries. By daring to be different, ACCA also challenges people expectations of the professional as a whole - for example, we were the first professional accountancy body to allow women to study in 1909, and we were the first to introduce computer-based exams in 1999.
Re: dullest job - for me personally, I would not like to work in a job that didn't involve people - I would find that very dull!
Hope this answers all your questions, and if you want to know anything else just drop me a message,
Have a great weekend,
Laura
