Driving test - any tips?
I apologise first of all, as I guess this thread has been done to death!
I passed my theory last Saturday, and I booked my practical for the 19th March. It would be great to pass first time, so I was wondering what tips people have. I will have had 30 lessons by the time my test comes round.
Thank you! -
Re: Driving test - any tips?
For what it's worth, I do have a couple of tips

One, you know you can drive. You wouldn't be put up for a test if you couldn't
Two, if it was as hard as it's made out to me, there wouldn't be so many drivers on the road
And three, there was no way I was going to fail if my mum had managed to pass, hahah
Try your best to make a good first impression, it'll relax you when you have your test. I wish you the very best of luck

Talk to the examiner. It will help you get comfortable. But don't do it too much. Nerves are the worst thing, if you can relax it will become like a lesson and be a doddle. A silent atmosphere can be unnerving.
I was casually talking to my examiner about the weather, college, her job, whatever lol and it was smooth sailing. Passed first time. I'm usually a nervous wreck in situations like that.Last edited by silent ninja; 10-02-2012 at 13:29. -
Re: Driving test - any tips?
I failed twice because I let the pressure get to me, you just have to drive like you have been taught and relax, know the legal tyre tread minimum and how to check it, think it is the edge of a twenty pence piece, and the engine questions you may get, not sure what it is like now but just make sure you know the answers to the basic questions they ask before you set off. Check mirrors are all in correct position, seatbelt on, turn ignition, check mirrors and pull away when it is safe to do so, and keep checking those mirrors, or at least look like you are, and know the speed limit.

Re: Driving test - any tips?
To be honest i wasn't really a good driver when i passed ( almost 2 years ago ) but just stay calm and act like you're in control, even if you make mistakes, just stay cool and look like you can handle, everyone makes mistakes but its how you handle it which is the most important.
