Why do people say Biomedical Scientist aren't well paid?
I was going to apply to do BScBiomedical Science in univeristy. but many people are saying that it is a hard degree with few job prospects and ever worse salary. But i just had a look in the NHS jobs website and there seems to be many jobs for biomedical scientists which are pretty well paid.

I don't know, really. I guess people assume that Biomedical scientists all end up working in hospitals. It isn't the only career option by a long shot. My line manager did a Biomedical Science degree followed by a Ph.D. in Virology and short postdoc and now earns £40k in research. Some of the higher managers earn stupid amounts of money (£70k+), and many started with a degree in Biomedsci.

Depends on how far you want to go in your field. The more qualified you become (i.e. PhD) and the more willing you are to travel for job opportunities the better your prospects are. obviously if you just do a BSC and work as a basic research assistant, how much you can earn is limited.

Because its not really, seeing as what they do, and the investment they have to put into their education, degree, masters, PhD, having experience. For every one of those job these 100+ well qualified and experienced biomed applying for it at all levels.
It seems science and teaching don't pay so alot of good people leave to work else where, in the private sector where a grad on a graduate scheme/ job could be earning that in 4-5 years out of uni without the need for a masters or higher
But thats the private sector and they are not funded by the taxpayer
