    It is possible but not likely. You'd have to have something special - so is more likely to happen to mature applicants.

    Some universities will consider giving you a lower offer if you come from a failing or poor school as well. I can't find the original article about it (it was a while ago!) but a google search highlighted a clause in Bristols entrance requirements saying this - and I'm sure there were a few others as well.

    i got the lowest grade offer ever from Manchester and i resat a year after not doing so well... i have some work experience i guess and apparently an amazing PS, plus i'm good at interviews, so if you do all that i'm sure they will

    it happens, the grades advertised are only a guide to entry for instance say the grades required were abb if they felt the need they could demand 3 a* or simply DDD its completely at their discretion, its not especially common though, youd need to have something truly outstanding on your application or the course to be incredibly under subscribed maybe, but no its not especially common at all.
