hangover food van
Hi there

I am looking for some help from you students please?
I am thinking of starting a mobile hangover cure van that will drive around a uni campus, halls of residences and popular student areas. The van will sell tasty hangover food, much needed pop and juices and other hangover essentials like painkillers and eye drops etc etc.
It will also be possible to call and order a delivery to your home so you dont need to leave your bed or sofa!
I really just want to see if you guys would use a service like this and how much would you be willing to pay for a home delivery of bacon butties and pop etc?
Please feel free to give me ideas and any comments you have please?
I have not decided which town to do this in yet but would like to do this across the uk!
Thanks a million

Re: hangover food van
CAN you sell painkillers? No idea, just seems like something you would need a license type thing for.
The idea is good but you will need money to start it off. Things like money to rent a van, health and safety checks for the people cooking and the food served,. You may even need a license from the council to sell it on the streets and such.
Other shops and competition will benefit from economies of scale and usually the similar places as you a suggesting that serve on nights out charge over-priced stuff, both for this reason and just to mainly make a lot of money. Realistically you may not be able to benefit from this, but it is a viable opportunity.
At the very least put a minimum delivery limit. Look at Just Eat website, where local companies deliver food. Many of them impose charges such as "Minimum delivery is for £10 and delivery costs £3". Such gains may not be possible given you a suggesting relatively 'small food' . One thing. Say you are doing it outside a particular set of halls, research those halls, what types of flats is it? e.g. a majority of 6 person flats. Your marketing should be towards 'Hangover food menu for 6 people', thus innevitably would be one typical large order and would go over the costs where delivery wouldnt be reasonable, even more so if you only deliver to those halls (as opposed to them walking down to get it)
Delivery, especially if this is even partially successful, can require a lot of man-power. Sticking to on-campus stuff and then branching out could be best. Establishing a name for yourself next to the busiest cross-sections or halls/lecture theatres etc and then promoting that you now do a delivery may have a better impact.
