Withdrawal Bleed - when to expect it?
Ive just finished my first pack of microgynon and, for the record, I took them all correctly as well as using condoms so I'm pretty safe. Anyway it's the 3rd day of not taking them, and still no withdrawal bleed. I've read that some people wait like 2 days for it, others like 5, but I was wondering what you guys' experiences are? How long do you wait for the withdrawal bleed? Also what is it like? Just a normal period?

    Thanks

My no pill week starts on a Wednesday, and I usually don't get mine until around Sunday. Mine's lighter than my period normally was, and lasts until Wednesday/Thursday-ish which is about a day or two shorter than my period usually lasted.

Last pill on Sunday, withdrawl usually started Thursday or sometimes Friday and usually stopped by Saturday evening. It takes time for the hormone levels to drop enough to cause the bleed, which is why you don't suddenly start bleeding the day after your last pill.

When I first started taking my pill, it would kick in about 2 days after I finished the pack. Now, I finish my pill on a Tuesday and don't get it until Sunday night.

It should happen some time within that week. When I was on the combined pill I usually waited 3 - 4 days. I think it takes some time for the body to realise that you haven't taken pills and that it's time to bleed.

I'm on Microgynon, and I normally wait 3-4 days before the withdrawal bleed. I've found it to be noticeably lighter than a regular period, though.
