Guys with double standards

I was chatting with a group of guys yesterday and they were talking about this girl who we went out with for the first time. On the night, she met this guy she already knows in the club and ended up going back with him. The way the guys spoke about this was really negative, saying things like "oh the slag" "she's a bit easy ain't she", yet 5 minutes later they were talking about how one of them pulled this 'fit girl' and got 'sticky fingers' and the general reaction was "ha nice one mate!"

This really irritated me and I've found it's a common thing with a lot of lads out there. I associate the term 'slag' with someone who sleeps around a lot but tends to be a bit of a 'homewrecker' as well, having sex with people she shouldn't be. But what harm is a bit of casual sex doing to anyone else so long as it's safe? As long as you maintain respect and dignity for yourself and don't go flashing your tits out in the club or whatever, then what people do in the bedroom should be no one elses concern.

I'm not attacking all males here or anything, just something that has annoyed me from my experience and has happened more than once!

Having casual sex with a lot of different people is slaggy, end of.

The reason why it's something to brag about for guys is because they actually need to have charm/looks/confidence to pull it off. Whereas pretty much any girl could sleep with many guys.

Like the saying goes.. "A key that opens many locks is a good key...A lock that is opened by many keys is a bad lock."

Consider the following: Some women believe that there is a "double standard" that exists because men are congratulated for being sexually promiscuous - and women are given negative connotations such as "slut" or "whore". Why some women can't understand this very simple concept has always baffled me.

Men have to compete with one another to get picked for sex. They have to display that they have the best genes or the most value. Women have to compete too, but only for the BEST male. They can have sex anytime they choose, just not with the best choice. But if they were to lower their standards as men have to do, they would get to pick from a long line of men. "Getting laid" is not something that can happen every day for the common Joe. He has to navigate the maze of a woman delicately in social situations to convince her he's the best pick. If a woman goes to a bar, club, or casual encounters looking for sex, and only wants sex, she will have zero problems getting it. Therefore, over time, women have gained a negative connotation, because they are not "beating anyone" or doing anything remotely impressive, they are simply manipulating basic human biology for sexual gratification. And thus, poof, the term "slut" was manifested.

I didn't even have to go into this long winded rant to make my point invincible - think female prostitution. Is there a reason why the porn industry is so huge but only for the male population. Is there a reason female prostitution is a global epidemic, but you don't hear problems about male prostitution? Why a female prostitute can make quite the living, while male prostitution isn't very profitable for the average Joe.

Good luck guys, may the best man win.
i call those kind of people hypocrites
It is stupid. It takes two people to have sex and to consent to having sex (obivously excluding group sex) . Sex is enjoyable and fun. Women have sexual needs too.

What do you "win" then, exactly? Illegitimate kids and lots of lovely strains of HPV to spread around? Really manly that.

I completely agree with the OP. It's a double standard that pisses me off to the high heaven.

Sounds like those guys are just a bit insecure.

I always say in this situation it takes 2 to tango. The girls must be a 'slag' to get off with a randomer tbf so they're as bad as each other

It's typical banter to the group, projecting a 'Laddish' exterior. A lot of guys will say "She's a slag/slut", etc., but they will happily get a shag off of them. Welcome to just another annoying feature of society.

This isn't a case of women believing that a double standard exists when it doesn't. It exists. Men and women are treated differently when it comes to their sexual behaviour. Whether or not you think this double standard is justified is another matter completely, but you can't deny that it exists.

Also, and I don't know if this intentional, but you sound incredibly sexist in this post. You should probably do something about that.
This isn't true. Have you ever been close friends with a girl before? They call each other slags for it just as frequently as men do, if not more. This isn't something I've just made up either.

How can men be hypocritical when women are doing it themselves (calling women who sleep around "slags", as a general statement) and then complaining that men are doing it? Isn't it more hypocritical to say "men call women slags for sleeping around, it's not fair" when you yourself are female and calling another female a slag, quite possibly for doing something you yourself do... isn't that much more hypocritical? Also, if you ask the guys who do sleep around loads if they themselves are slags or sluts, they will probably reply with a yes. They don't care.

You should word the question differently because you are putting the sole blame on men when they are not the only ones who call women slags for sleeping around.

Because "slag" and "slut" applies to women, whereas the alternative word for males is "player". The actual double standard is that men see "player" as a good thing, and "slag" as a bad thing.

So women complaining that it's wrong men call them slags for sleeping around, when they call each other slags for it, isn't hypocritical?

Be honest.

This. I've honestly heard more GIRLS that call other girls sluts/slags than guys that call girls that.

Whilst society may have double standards, I'm of the personal opinion that they're both as bad as each other.

Well to be fair women have a lot of things they can do that men can't. For example, women can wear men's clothes (may seem silly but it's true), deciding out of choice to be a housewife (men get looked down upon) or whether to have a career, abusive relationships are classed as nonsense when it's a woman doing it to a man etc.

Also nowadays it's getting to the point where women are just as promiscuous as men and although you do get the odd 'slut' comment it is becoming more socially acceptable for women to play the same games that men play.
