    UCAS help urgently required
    Hi everyone,

I put in my application just before the deadline of 15th January and made five choices, the thing is, I made my choices in a big rush & didn't research them properly and have made some very silly decisions.

    I have had;
    • a rejection which I'm not too bothered about (without offer of an interview),
    • a conditional from somewhere I do not want to go (requirements are fairly hard too),
    • I have withdrawn an application before an interview as I didn't think I had the correct portfolio they asked for in the interview letter and,
    • I haven't heard back from one uni (but, again, I don't think I have the right portfolio.

My last choice was the choice I was pinning hope on and I've just got rejected today, despite having a strong personal statement, passing the entrance exam and I *think* the interview went well.

Is there anything at all I can do about the rejection I got today? Can I apply for a different uni through "extra" The extra process really confuses me.

    Thanks for any help!

See the guide to extra here:

To be eligible for extra you need to reject the conditional offer you have and also withdraw from the university you're still waiting to hear from.

You can't do anything about the rejection today, no, you just need to move on.

Thanks! So I can only make one choice through extra after rejecting the conditional? Do I also cancel the choice that hasn't got back to me?

I'm not that upset really and have moved on, just checking there was nothing else I could do in regards to that offer!

You can make one choice at a time. So if you apply to a university they then have 3 weeks to reply to you. After 3 weeks you can either decide to continue to wait or apply elsewhere. If you get rejected from the university you apply to first, you can then apply to another one (one at a time) until you get an offer you are happy with or you decide not to continue making applications.

Yes, you would need to cancel the choice that hasn't got back to you before using extra. This can't be undone though so you need to make sure you're completely happy with this decision to withdraw from it. You also need to reject the conditional offer you have too. I would also recommend that you contact the universities you're interested in applying to via extra before you formally withdraw your applications and enter extra.

I would also urge you to contact any universities you wish to apply to through extra before you withdraw anything because they may not accept what is now considered 'late' applications.
Visit the Uni you have an offer from and see if you change your mind on second viewing.
There is still time to get an offer from the one you are waiting from though so don't make hasty decisions.

Thanks for all the info! I've withdrawn everything & applied for a more suitable course.

Thanks for this! I contacted the uni and they said it's fine to apply via extra. I know what you mean about hasty decisions, but I really can tell that the offer I received, isn't the right course for me.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you

You can also offer to send a new personal statement directly to the extra university if you feel that this would help your application.
