Can someone recommend a laptop suited to my needs?
Hopefully I'll be going to university in a couple of years, and although I'd like to wait until closer to then to get a new laptop, my old desktop computer is becoming very slow.
In short, the main thing I'll be using it for is work, videos and internet browsing (i.e. no gaming), for now and when at university. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to computer parts, but a good RAM (is 4gb reasonable?) would be good. I may also do the occasional video editing - I also have loads of downloaded programs on my computer, along with a lots of music, so a reasonably large memory size would be good.
I'll be using it as my main computer, so the screen size can't be too small (basically not a notebook). My budget stretches to £400, if there's anything slightly over this then suggest it but I doubt I'll be able to afford it. A quick amazon search returned this result, I've looked at the reviews but can anyone else give an opinion:

I'm intending to use it for the next 6/7 years - obviously technology advances, but I'd like it to be a relatively new model.
Thanks

Second generation i3 compared to the first gen i3 on that Acer, and 6GB of memory, and 500GB HDD (average but still reasonable, and remember you can always get some kind of cloud storage or an external HDD if you need more space) and for under budget.
To be completely honest with you, no £400 laptop will last 6/7 years, or at least won't last more than 4/5 years without being frustratingly slow towards the end of it's lifespan, but by that time you'll be coming towards the end of university anyway. -

I'm not a computer whizz, so i can't help you with the gb and stuff, but i was in a similar situation to you last week. I went shopping for a laptop and just walked to the pretty colours, but luckily i took a friend who knew what he was doing,
I ended up getting a HP pavilion 4gb, which is an online offer normally if you want to have a look in a really pretty blue, and it was under 400
