Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013I'm currently an undergrad at Warwick so know a fair amount about how the accomodation works etc. The Warwick Accomodation website will be opening for postgraduate applications sometime in April, which I think I am going to use. I'm from Coventry, so not far, but have lived out all through my undergraduate study and would like to sustain that next year. Hopefully I can find somewhere nice! What about you?(Original post by beckystern)
Hi everyone!
Good to know there are other people out there who are heading to Warwick in September...
Have you guys thought about housing yet? Are you commuting or planning to find a house to rent?

Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013
Im from Manchester so am definitely going to have to find a house to rent as that commute would be insane

I was thinking of going through the The Warwick Accommodation Website too, I keep looking at the website and rereading the fact that application open in 'Spring 2012' and wondering when exactly it means, so its good to know its soon...its stressing me out not knowing where I'm going to live!
Where is the best area to try and get a house in in your opinion? Iv heard that Leamington Spa is nice but quite far away...? -
Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013
I know, it's so fustrating! I've read somewhere else that it will open sometime in April so should be soon now! Leamington Spa is where most 2nd/3rd years live; it's a beautiful place and is very 'studenty'. It's somewhat more expensive than living in Coventry, but I suppose you pay to live in the nicer town. It's not too far from uni - about a 25 minute bus ride (they're frequent and go directly to the university). I have heard though that the uni recommend living in Coventry because of our placements. These can vary hugely in location and because the university is in Coventry, they must think it'll be easier to commute from there to our placements. Decisions!! I'm living in Leamington at the moment and really like it so might opt to live there. It has a train station etc if worst comes to it, and i'm placed in Birmingham or somewhere quite far! xx

Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013
Hi all! I have also been accepted to study English with Drama at Warwick. I don't have to worry about accommodation as I live in Warwick/Leamington (with my husband and baby) and we aren't moving so I just have to hope that our placements aren't too far away! Instead, I need to sort out childcare. I see a lot of trips to Paperchase in my future. New stationery!!!

Hey all!
I've also been accepted to complete an English with Drama PGCE
I'm in the same situation as you Becky, I'm from Cornwall so I will be relocating as well. Have you had any luck with finding anything and have you contacted the university at all?
Well done everyone for getting your place, I'm excited to meet you all!

Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013
Hi Chrissy!
Congratulations on your place too! I havnt found anything yet accommodation-wise but I'm checking the university's accommodation website everyday for news. I definitely want to try and find a house through them so at the moment Im just waiting. I might try and email/call them soon though as it is April that they said they would let us new students start applying for housing....
Are you thinking of living in Coventry or Leamington Spa? From what kg1990 has said earlier in the thread I'm thinking that Coventry is probably the bet bet placement-wise because of public transport...i don't know the area at all so i want to keep things as easy and simple as possible has far as travelling goes
Hi and congratulations to you allfivehorizons as well!!
I am also going to be taking a lot of trips to Paperchase in the future too..its always so much easier to work hard when you have pretty pens and files to keep you organised!

Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013
Hi everyone! I am starting the PGCE in Spanish with French in September and am looking for people to house share with. I live near Rugby at the moment, and am thinking of renting a house there as I prefer the area to Coventry. I don't really want to go back to a "student house" and would prefer to live in a nicer house that I can share with some friends. If anyone is interested please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Re: Warwick University - Secondary PGCE 2012 / 2013
hi, can anyone shed any light on this? Warwick normally have a pgce facebook group set up for each year by the looks of it, there's one set up for this year's intake of Primary pgce students, but nothing for secondary as of yet- I was going to set one up or do you think the Warwick pgce fairies will do this by magic for us?
I've just started to make an attempt on the essay due for the 14th and i think my brain is unable to hold this much information at one time......

Hi all! Am starting the English with Drama sec. PGCE on Monday, looking forward to meeting everyone

Strange question - I had it in my head that the day starts at 9, but looking at the timetable it appears to be 9.30. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance!

So excited for next year!! xxx
