I havnt done this yet because I'm very disorganised. I'm hoping to do this tomorrow. How much do you think I should change? I was thinking about £250-£300? Also where is the best place to change it, so I may get the best rates?

    Cheers.

K recommended €300-400, so yes: about that.
There are a few decent places: Thomas Cook, the Post Office or M&S are always pretty good. Make sure that you pay in cash and not card.

Anyone who claims "no commission fee" is ****ing you over, they give you a relatively worse exchange rate to others. So look around and compare exchange rates.

And airports just rip you off!

Equally, IMO, as long as you're at a relatively large well known place on the highstreet, the rates are all close enough that it isn't worth your time to spend too long shopping about.

Pre-order first! Online rates are always better. You can usually pick up same day.

I'll probably just use my bank (natwest) I changed £500 there when I went to valloire and I think it cost me about £1.20 more than if I'd gone to the post office.

If you plan on changing the same amount on this trip I think the first round definitely should be on you

In that case I'm sure he could afford a few pitchers for the group

More than reasonable. Although soft drinks in these places can still be pretty pricey!

I tried sticking to coke one night. Was more expensive than a night on the beer - I drink the coke faster so got through much more of it!

I'm sure you could find one much cheaper if you just had a walk around your town/city.

Unfortunately I'm on a bit more of a budget this week. Valloire was a bit of an all out, 3 course meal and cocktails everyday kind of trip. I'll be on the cheap beers with the rest of you this week.
