been ages since i've been on here! wow looks like everyone's got some really amazing offers! congratz!
So far i've got offers from wimbledon and birmingham, still waiting on goldsmiths, withdrew from camberwell and brighton.
Also got an offer from the royal academy of art the hague, and have my second interview at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in a couple of weeks. So atm i'm trying to decide whether to stay in the UK or not :s-smilie:

I had an offer from both Chelsea and Camberwell - Im picking camberwell cause I think their facilities are way superior to Chelsea, the studio space is much bigger and they give you the chance to learn skills whatever you're interested in. The buildings a bit of a run down maze, but i kinda like that, it means you dont feel too 'precious' about working in the space. I also liked the atmosphere at Camberwell more, very down to earth.

I got offered sculpture instead of painting and I was so happy cause that actually suits me much better as well! I know the area cause Ive lived here for 7 years (I love the area) so if you have any questions feel free to ask - looks like we'll be classmates

Thanks for the replies (edit: and interviews.. wtf must have been tired) all of you!

Unfortunately I first saw thestudentroom and the portfolio thread AFTER submitting my miniportfolio and after my interview at the GSA... It is great advice though and i definitely got some inspiration for what I will do at my next interview.

I have an entrance examination in Amsterdam the 16th of April, which is also a portfolio interview as far as I'm concerned! Still waiting for answers from Norway and Denmark (invitation for examinations/interviews will be given end April-start May).

I didn't really prepare anything for my interview at the GSA; which I know now that I should have. I brought a very big unstructured pile of paper - just organized in sketchwork/theme/year and 10 organized A1 plastic sleeves, which were presentations on conceptual work... Could not bring any canvases because of the journey DK->UK.
At my interview I felt like there was great chemistry with the teachers and me person-to-person, but they didn't really ask to my portfolio; more questions about art in general, which I thought was great ´cause I can go on about that for hours ... The 20 minutes went by fast and I only got to show and tell about the content of one sleeve --- looking back I think I should have insisted on telling more about my concrete work instead of the conversation on art (i don't know)! I have written them and asked for feedback.

Holland sounds really exciting, one of my friends did his year abroad in The Hague and loved it. Do you speak Dutch then?

I think he was at The Hague University - he did politics or european law, something like that anyway
That's cool, I guess learning a second language during your course would be a pretty good bonus, and Dutch is one of those that no one learns in college too.
I firmed Goldsmiths a couple of days back! I'm really looking forward to it now

Good luck, it sounds like you did well and writing to them afterward asap to thanks for the interview or ask for feedback is a really good way to show how much you care about your work

Only you can answer that.
They are both good institutions, but it depends what you want!
The locations are very different (new cross is cheaper, but your not as close to galleries), and they are run very differently (you get no set projects in either but slade you specialise and goldsmiths you don't),
to me, it came down to what choice I felt most excited about!

Hope that helps slightly:]

I'd agree with farout, it depends which one felt better to you, think about how the interviews went, did you come out of one feeling more excited than the other? Did you like the atmosphere of one over the other? Did one feel more challenging?

Think about facilities and what you want to do (like farout says, Slade specialise from the begining)

Look at the degree shows online, which excites you more?

In choosing, I found its almost imposiible to be completely rational, you really do have to trust your gut instinct and what you felt - dont get sidetracked by questions of reputation.

ah cool, same day as me then! might see you there
OH MY GOD GUYS so I found le internet in my Yangshuo hotel tonight and I got a track change email and my heart instantly fell, because I was so certain I had gotten a rejection from Goldsmiths. I didn't feel like my interview had gone particularly well or anything.

And then, trololol: Goldsmiths BA Fine Art, conditional. 8'D A university loves me! I'm not forever alone!
My first choice is actually Chelsea, but this still makes me so happy, haha.

They must have sent me a letter, I suppose. Is that what you guys got? I'm in China right now so I haven't seen my mail yet.

Anyway, emotional moment over. Congratulations to (I believe) glitter_ever and Ham_Sandwich, who also got into Goldsmiths, and Farout for being increeeeedible and getting into Slade. <3 you guys, so much happiness for you.
