How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?
I am 17 years old, and my stepdad likes to have as much control over as possible, and has made it so I have to ask for his password whenever I want to download something, or update any existing programme, I get locked out at 11 in the evening everyday, every site I use has a locked 'safety mode' or 'strict filtering' on it, I have to get his password whenever I want to install a game, and loads of perfectly normal sites are blocked.
Now he's forgotten the password and can't be arsed to do anything about it. Does anyone know how to disable these controls without a password?? I have tried using the USB drive thing to reset the password once, but he found out and hid it!
Any ideas? -
Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?
Press the Windows key + R.
Enter 'cmd'.
Now type: net user
You'll see a list of accounts. Take note of the name of the account you want to change the password for, then enter: net user nameofaccount *
This lets you reset the password. If your stepdad's username isn't Admininstrator, then you can login wihtout a password. -
Get your recovery dvd and boot from that(Original post by dmccririck)

Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?Unfortunately the username is administrator... I tried what you said, but it says 'access denied' ... is there any way to get around this??(Original post by janet9)

Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?It's not about watching porn, it's about having the freedom to do whatever I want on my laptop without having to ask for a password which he has now forgotten.(Original post by Addzter)
Tell your stepdad you wannt to watch porn and he'll disable it. -
Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?OK.(Original post by dmccririck)

Well, why don't you download another copy of Windows, or a different OS like Ubuntu and install it on a new partition, and use that to download whatever you like and access sites freely? Then, whatever you download on the new partition can be accessed on the main one that you're using now.

How about creating a new recovery dvd yourself?(Original post by dmccririck)

Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?
Download a new operating system, like Linux portable. You can even hide it in a cornered partition of your hard-drive. I have to say, your step dad is a real pain in the arse. Won't be long before you have the chance to move out and do what you want, so just hang in there now and don't get into trouble.

Utter rubbish. BIOS controls low level system functions. It holds no bearing on the OS in the way you describe what so ever.(Original post by calumsteele1)
youll be able to reset the system through the BIOS then just make yourself an admin, also i think you should be able to disable programmes through it -
Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?my mistake, got confused with something else(Original post by mikeyd85)

could the OP not use the command prompt to kill the programme though..? -
Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?Depends really on how locked down the system is. If OP isn't an admin though, she won't be able to use taskkill to kill processes created by SYSTEM or any other admin account.(Original post by calumsteele1)

Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?I'm fairly computer illiterate compared to you guys... how do I get into the BIOS?(Original post by Fing4)
If you want to bypass the time thing, when it's nearly 11pm go to the bios and change the system time to say midday and you won't be logged off -
Re: How to remove windows live parental controls on windows 7?If it's yours and not a family computer why has he got an account on it? Who bought it?(Original post by dmccririck)
