Use of the word ignorant

Use of the word ignorantI moved from the south to the north about a decade ago and ive found that people here tend to use the word Ignorant as a verb to ignore someone. Eg " Last time i saw him he blanked me the ignorant ****er". Which ive always thought was strange because ignorant means a lack of knowledge. Has anyone else found this at all?

Im not saying there is anything wrong with it its just an observation its something that ive never come accross until i came to the north. -

I think people put 2 and 2 together, assuming that ignorant is the act of ignoring. It's a fair mistake, to be honest, but as the lexical nazi that I am, I feel it is something that needs correcting.

more like: when someone is content with that lack of knowledge,
and while knowing its there, they still aren't doing anything to address it...
I live in the south and I've always heard it used in that context... -

Case and point, I've been called ignorant so many times for my views on matters of immigration and religion. It makes me want to scream, because in almost every case I know far more than them on the given subject matter. -

It's also broadly used as a general insult, of course - largely meaningless and likely not honestly intended to mean that the recipient is ignorant of something in particular. -

But if you're talking about using it to mean ignoring, then I've never heard it used that way, but that's not what it means so I guess it's technically wrong.
