    University of Manchester Bursary
    Hey guys,

First of all, are the bursaries given out to a selected number of students randomly (as long as they fit the criteria)? Or all they given out to all students who fit the criteria?

Secondly, can one student be eligible for more than type of bursary? E.g. Can one student be eligible for the Manchester Bursary as well as the National Scholarship Programme or the Foundation year bursary for that matter.

    Thanks!

As long as u meet the criteria you get the bursary, this does depend though some bursaries have an application form as well and its like a competition as to who "wins it" - I got one of these in first year

and yeah you can get more than one, in 1st and 2nd years I got 2 bursaries a year, there are different eligibility criteria which will all be on their website though, so even if you get all A's but are studying (for example) Optometry you won't qualify for the bursary, even if someone with identical grades to you gets it for say a Business Studies degree- kinda sucks

Ah okay, i suppose its still better than what some other universities are offering.

Btw, which bursary requires you to get A's ? Haven't seen anything as such on website.

I've had a quick look and it looks as though they no longer offer it..
but I got both Manchester Success and Manchester Advantage Bursaries
one was based on parents income, and the other was based on 3A's at A level and the fact that my parents income was under the threshold.

but then in final year when my parents income increased over the threshold I got nothing, which was pretty upsetting, as I was kinda expecting that extra £3000!

Due to the fee changes this year the bursaries have been radically changed so you may be best contacting the University directly. In previous years you were able to get multiple bursaries but with a maximum bursary of £3k/year, I would hope this limit has either been removed or increased considering the new fees.

Ah okay, i think you're right; i would be surprised if this hasn't changed. I have emailed them but they're closed for Easter so it could be a while before i find out.

I guess these bursaries are just for undergrad?... I'm really disappointed with lack of funding at postgrad level at Manchester
