Current Newcastle University students advise on accomodation please!! XD
    Hey pals,

I got my offer from Newcastle (woot woot) and now im having such a hard time to decided my chocies for accomodation for the coming year. I would love to here all the goss and scandals and genreal oppions and advise from current or previous Newcastle students.

Ive narrowed my chocies to Richardson Road, Windsor Terrace and Marris House (not in that order) and still am not sure which ones to pick from them.
Im more in favour for Marris house to have a bit more space, have the extra toliet and shower and to not have the constant noise level of Richardson Road to be able to do work, but then is Marris house left out from the Ricky atmosphere and socail?

P.S im studying combined honours: english lit and film studies (if that makes a differance) aha

I'm in my third year at Newcastle now, and although I didn't go into accommodation in my first year, I pretty much lived at Richardson (Ricky) road. It's the party centre, and there's always something going on, but it's easy enough to get on with your work if you want to.
A lot of people adopt the "40% pass rate" thought process once they get to university and realise that there's a lot more to uni than just getting a degree (although there's no denying that this is the primary focus).
I also work for the university as a Student ambassador, so I've gave accommodation tours many times. In my experience, I'm yet to come across someone who didn't enjoy their time at Ricky road.
It does sound like you want some of the luxuries from what you've described, so that does kind of go against choosing RR. Just remember that first year is the year that you have to enjoy yourself most (as it doesn't count towards your degree).
    Hope that helps!

I think I am in a similar position to you. I applied for accommodation a few weeks ago and chose:

    1) Marris House - Close to ricky but from what I have heard not so loud. Has a sink in the room and 2 toilets per flat. Also it is near the med school.
    2) Windsor Terrace - Good facilities.
    3) Richardson Road - would be more than happy to live here, but as a med student I think I'll be doing quite a bit of work in the first year so I chose it as my third choice.

As a gapper the chances are I will get my first choice.

Would love some input on current student - is there anything I should know before coming in September?
