    Living in Coventry
Hello! first post on student room!

Got a placement in Coventry on my business studies course for 12 months, booked a room with Liberty Living in the city centre starting next September.

Just wondered firstly if anyone on here is living at the same accommodation? and wondering about what life in Coventry is like. Don't know anyone unfortunately, will be like freshers week all over again! and not even been in the City Centre yet!

    Best pubs/nightclubs? Things to do?

Any insight would be great! Cheers!

Liberty park is a really nice accommodation from the outside, I haven't been inside before. The only really good club in Coventry, in my opinion, is called Kasbah. There's also a club really close to Liberty Park, called Carey's which isn't too bad.

In terms of things to do, you'll be living about 5/10 mins walk from the cinema and ice-skating rink, but apart form that, there isn't much in Coventry. It's pretty boring. I've just done my first year at Cov and we found that if we didn't go out, we were crazy bored and just sat in someone's room, watching a film or something.

Don't worry about the city centre, you live pretty close, 10/15 mins walk from it so can explore whenever.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Is it safe? I decided to study at Coventry uni based on their website, but when I did other searches there is so much negativity in regards to Coventry as a whole. I really don't know why and it is making me nervous since I will be attending the uni in Sept.
Would someone clear the air for me please?
I've just done my first year and yes Coventry is pretty safe. Avoid the subways at night during freshers week, because I know one or two guys who got their wallet stolen when walking back from nights out. But that's just during freshers because the locals know freshers are easy targets. After that, it's generally fine to walk around alone, even at night. If you have any questions, like about your accommodation or anything just ask me

Just a warning I wouldn't walk alone at night in the subways ever - not just fresher's week. Heard of so many people mugged or beaten up down there & also some people asking for "toll" money to let you pass...

But other than the subways, it is a very safe for a city. It is not as safe as the countryside though and I never walk anywhere alone at night. I actually picked Coventry over Nottingham as I had read Nottingham was one of the worst student cities in the UK.

I live in Coventry all year round due to work so I know what it's like even when the students leave
