Windows Vista 32 bit crashing on Asus 990fx
Basically I built the pc from my previous thread.......and lucky for me I had linux on my hard drive as well WIndows Vista 32bit so I can still use it.

The problem is that when I try to go onto Vista it starts to initially load however it freezes and restarts.

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990fx the current bios is on Version 0705.
Processor: FX-8120 doesn't look like a problem with the processor.

    Can anyone help me please?
And my optical drive is out of action as my new board doesn't have a IDE connection :/

It could be a driver issue or anything, I would do a clean install of vista. That way you know there are no redundant drivers left from your old motherboard or other hardware that could cause a conflict.

You moved a windows install from one machine to another? That won't work natively. Do you have the old machine still?

Re: IDE connection; you can get cheap IDE to SATA convertor boards for less than a fiver on ebay, I have one on my old DVD-ReWriter.

Yeah, but it's very old........I don't get why my linux still works.

I just ended up getting a new optical drive, but the windows repair still doesnt work effectively.

I was thinking of that, but I have a lot of hard drive memory that I would like to keep.
Know how to replace the drivers from linux by any chance?
