These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know already!
This literally appears everytime I refresh the page. My mother saw it the other day and pulled a face at me, and I'm like wtf it's just an advert I'm not seeking help. I don't think there is a way to disable this, but seriously that picture of the girl crying or the one of her with her boyfriend on top of her as he's deep inside is etched into my mind and it's really putting me off thinking of making good replies to threads for dat pos rep. A rapist isn't going to stop being a rapist because of an advert he saw, and then there are people like me and most of you who don't need to be told this every 20 seconds. Your thoughts? (And if there's a way to disable it let me know how because I prefer the advert where aston talk about having better employment rates than oxbridge
)

I'm pretty sure the adverts aren't placed there by Acumen, except for those that are sponsored (i.e. appear in the homepage content section). AFAIK it's something on the outside that deals with that type of advertising. As a sub, I can't see the adverts myself (though admin can) - if the admin team deems it inappropriate, the offending can be removed despite them not controlling it's initial presence there
It won't be long before someone sees this thread though

Subscribing gets rid of adds I believe.
I haven't seen the one you're on about on here. It's not aimed at the stereotypical kind of rapists that preys on drunk or stoned women walking home late at night on their own though. It's aimed at normal people, many who're in relationships who don't realise that heavily pressuring and then persuading your partner into sex is still technicaly rape as they didn't want to in the first place.Last edited by Clare~Bear; 14-04-2012 at 23:10. -

Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaI second that. If it came to a court case, they would disagree that pressured sex is rape (unless there was some kind of reported genital injury (in my opinion, please feel free to correct me)). I believe that advert means that forcing women into sex is just as bad as rape - though it comes across as though it is calling pressurised sex rape.(Original post by Clare~Bear)

Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaTSR Group is a for-profit organisation, so obviously they want to monetise the site as best they can. But that said, the leadership's first priority is making TSR a great place to visit. After all, a website that nobody visits makes no money. Adverts are a small price to pay for free access to a resource as diverse and valuable as TSR.(Original post by sil3nt_cha0s)
At the end of the day, the adverts are giving them £££ and that's all they care about.
And OP, if you don't like the ads, subscribe. -
Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaLol 'deep inside'. Sounds like you are letting your imagination run away with you.(Original post by A level Az)

Your post is way more graphic than the ad! -
Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaHave you ever seen the debates about rape on TSR? Usually its along the lines of if the woman wasn't dressed like the Taliban she was asking for it.(Original post by calumsteele1)
doesnt say a lot for their opinion of the users of TSR if they feel the need to remind all the members not to rape people

Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaThe issue was about clearly offensive ads, not ads per se. One shouldn't have to pay a subscription fee to avoid demeaning messages implying one is a potential rapist because of possession of a penis. A typical example of how feminist dogma poisons attitudes towards males.(Original post by Mad Vlad)

Oh, and I don't like suggestions to pay a subscription fee in the imperative mood. -
Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaWait what? It's suggesting that all men are potential rapists? Really?(Original post by Mequa)

Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaHi A level Az, you should only see the same ad a certain number of times - they rotate and most ad campaigns will only run for a short period of a few weeks. However, while the wording of this particular campaign by the Home Office may seem strong or obvious to you, it is for an important cause. It's about raising awareness of the issue, for guys and girls, who may not know where the line between consent and rape lies. Unfortunately the nature of advertising of this kind means to reach the people it needs to, it has to be shown to everyone.
It is an important message to get out to young people and whilst you maybe feel uncomfortable with it on TSR, as you can see from the Q&A we've been running, people do have some concerns and if the campaign raises awareness and helps out just a few people then it's a success as far as we are concerned. -
Re: These TSR ADVERTS - "Sex with someone who doesn't want to is RAPE" - I know alreaI understand, it's important to educate people about this sort of thing, I think it was just appearing really frequently when I was on TSR which was really putting me off.(Original post by Captain Jack)
