    Mesosome. Real or artifact.
My school does OCR biology. They teach us about mesosomes as the site of respiration in prokaryotes (I think) but doing some reading around it seems that the whole idea of this kind of infolding membrane has become discredited and that it was only ever seen because of chemical damage in specimen preperation. Thoughts?

I'm not too sure on the answer myself, I'm sorry!

But learn what's needed and expected of you, in order to get good grades to get into the Uni you want - because that's where the real education starts. It's like, everything at secondary school was a lie for sixth-form/college. It's more or less the same once you get to Uni. Just go with it and do well! Don't dwell too much on this, either! It's just a tiny roadblock to put you off and emphasise the futility of education... before Uni, of course!
