    Being ill at uni :(
I've got tonsilitis and feeling so so ill
My tonsils are really swollen so it hurts when I swallow, been coughing up some blood, got a temperature, aching and headache!
I'm also on my own in the flat, none of my friends are around.
Had to call in sick to work today, which means work are annoyed at me.

I can't deal with being on my own and being ill. I dread taking my antibiotics/paracetamol, can't eat anything even drinking water hurts and my first exam is the day after tomorrow. I can't concentrate to revise.. really want to curl up in a ball and just cry it's horrible!

Have you let your university know that you're ill? This might qualify you for some sort of mitigating circumstances for your exams.

It sucks being ill - when people are ill they want sympathy but when others are ill they forget how bad it was.

Just get some rest, stay in bed and mong out on youtube! No point trying to revise while its really bad you will just have to redo it.

Pro Tip: If you have a job and are ill... force yourself in and get sent home, you get major boss points for trying. (I know its hard, but its something to consider in the future)

It's not nice being ill when you're alone but there are a few things you can do to make yourself feel less stressed about it.

I'd get in touch with your university and tell them how ill you are. There must be some sort of special circumstances form you can fill in if your revision/exam is affected by illness.

With regards to work they'd have to be quite strict to expect you to come to work when you're coughing up blood. If you've got antibiotics then you must have been to the doctors; if you're really worried get a note and take it to work next time you go. They'd have to be pretty unreasonable to be annoyed after that. They're probably more annoyed at the situation (under staffed/have to get someone else in a short notice) rather than at you in particular.

Why are you dreading the pills? Is it because it hurts to swallow? If so then just think that a few seconds of pain when you take the pills will actually make you feel better in the long run.

If I was you I'd stop revising just for today and give yourself a bit of time to get better. Get in bed and watch TV or go to sleep. By now you must have already done some revision so it might be better to go to your exam well rested and feeling a little better.

I hope you feel better soon !

I empathise, although it's fair to say that you would totally fail at being me (had everything from Swine Flu through to Salmonella at uni, and felt very isolated for much of that time)

You must let the docs know, and keep going back if it lasts a while so there's a strong medical record in case it impacts on your CW/exam prep. Hope you feel better soon sweetie

Do you live far away from home? If not do you think it will be best to call someone such as one of your parents to take you back for a while until you feel better? As the others have said, I'm sure if you get a doctors note your uni will take your illness into consideration. It sucks that your work was annoyed with you though, as you should be entitled to time off when you're ill .

Hope you feel better soon x
