Re: Best hall at goldsmiths??I think Chesterman and Loring look really good. Then again all the halls look really nice depending on what your looking for. Chesterman and Loring have nice looking rooms and are 5 mins from campus. They're the most expensive at £130 a week, though.(Original post by Nelsoir)
I'm trying to figure this out too, i was mainly thinking surrey house annexe and loring hall -
Re: Best hall at goldsmiths??
I'm a student at Goldsmiths currently living in Halls. I'm a undergraduate so was placed in Loring Hall which I love! It's by far the biggest hall with arguably the best atmosphere, although Chesterman seems pretty cool too. Loring Hall is, as was said previously, right next the Hob, local and popular pub, and nearest to Sainsbury's and Iceland which is really useful. In Freshers it was really good too, as we were all able to sit outside on the grass court and everyone got know each other. To be honest though, all of the halls apart from Raymont are really close to not only Goldsmiths but the supermarkets. Chesterman is also right next to the Amersham Arms which again is a really popular New Cross venue.
Surrey House Annexe seems to be the best value for money - they've got ensuites like us at Loring but bigger rooms and kitchens buuut there's a lot less people who live in the Annexe, and apparently its atmosphere isn't as good
For the cheaper halls, Surrey House is meant to be good too, although there are no ensuites - but that makes it cheaper. Batavia is pretty horrible. In some flats I think it's like 20 people to a kitchen? Grim. But again, it's a lot cheaper, plus I've only been in the kitchens of Batavia so the actual rooms might be nice.
Good luck, and hope I've helped! At the end of the day, it's not so much to do with what halls you're put in, but who's in your flat. For the person who was talking about re-application, literally everyone who wants to be put in halls gets a place after Christmas, so I wouldn't worry about it.Last edited by chazbc4; 21-04-2012 at 14:04. -
Re: Best hall at goldsmiths??
I went for Surrey House, because it was the cheapest available with inclusive room-internet access. I'm such a recluse already, lol.
@Liam, I just resubmitted all the details from "home". I assume you could also leave it blank if they're the same, but I didn't chance it.
They've yet to send me an acknowledgement email, though. Anyone else have that problem?
