How to go to a gig without being spotted?
I'm going to see a reeeeally embarrassing band soon and I was wondering if anybody has tips on how not to be spotted by people I know?

Unfortunately, the gig is on a road frequented by my friends. If they find out I like this band, all my musical credibility goes down the drain and I do some work where musical credibility is important. Should I wear a disguise? Cover my face with my hoodie? What is the best option? I need ideas please! Admitting I like this band and I am going to see them is not an option. I should add that I want to get to front row, so I will need to queue early, which maximises the probability of being spotted.

I already know I'm being very childish and shallow, so please don't tell me off about that.

To give you an idea of the size of the problem, this is the equivalent of somebody who claims to be a jazz fanatic (which I am) going to see N-Dubz (not who I'm seeing).

Before I can properly assess your current predicament, I need to know who that band is

Wear something completely different to your usual fashion sense and either wear a hat or a wig? If you don't wear glasses, get some really cheap ones or buy some "party sunglasses" so people don't see you.

Is it One Direction? Justin Bieber? Trying to think of music guilty pleasures....

Just go and if you get seen by someone (which is highly doubtful), just say you were taking a girl on a date or something. Or you took your mother out to a gig.

There is only one way out of this pickle of yours:

    Dress as a speaker

If they're your friends they should accept you even if you like this really embarrassing band, we all have guilty music pleasures. Just wear an oversized hoodie, big hat and some sun glasses, you'll be grand

Thanks guys! Why did I not think of sunglasses?! So obvious! I never wear sunglasses, so that will definitely make me less recognisable.

The band is Nickelback, by the way. I'm sorry if any of you guys genuinely like Nickelback, but it's the just the stigma attached to loving Nickelback so much that I want to see them live in front row. If my friends find out, they will NOT let this one go.

I'll look like a bit of an oddball wearing sunglasses in the evening, but oh well...

HA! Some acquaintances of mine are going to see Nickleback - sorry, that's ex acquaintances  But, I, at first, thought you was being a tad melodramatic but now I realise you have very reason to want to conceal you identity - as will 90% of the other attendants.

Thanks for being understanding. I know open-mindedness about music is a good thing, but then there is NICKELBACK. :rofl2:

I sometimes wonder 'why me?'... Why have I been cursed with a love for them?

There is nothing wrong with loving Nickelback. Chad Kroeger (or however you spell it) is good looking. I would advise that you create a fake press badge, and if anyone who knows you see's you, just say you are interviewing them for some paper.
