Could I get into the universities mentioned? :)
Hi,
I want to study at either [B]Glasgow, KCL, Leeds, Manchester or UCL. The latter is probably too much of a push, as my GCSEs aren't outstanding!
Anyway, these are my predicted GCSEs:
- BTEC Applied Science - Distinction*
- BTEC Information Technology - Distinction* (ACHIEVED)
- GCSE English Language - A (ACHIEVED)
- GCSE English Literature - A
- GCSE French - B
- GCSE History - C
- GCSE Mathematics - Higher Tier - B
- GCSE Science - B
- GCSE Spanish - B
The subjects in red are GCSEs I will be taking in my AS year. I have a 'C' in Foundation Mathematics - but want to get a 'B', something I can't do at my current school. I am taking extra GCSEs during my AS and A2 years to get the magic "8 GCSEs" I wish to get. I have predicted them myself! < Not too reliable
Anyway, providing I meet the A level requirements do I have a chance at the unis mentioned to study English? I am in Y11 BTW
NB: These ARE my predicted grades (unless stated otherwise) - I have lied on here in the past (long story)
I KNOW IT'S THE WRONG THREAD. THIS IS THE MOST VIEWED SO I PUT IT IN HERE TO GET QUICK RESPONSES. -

For Glasgow at least it would be A levels that would be important rather than BTECS GCSE'S etc. -
Re: Could I get into the universities mentioned? :)I'm doing archaeology, Eng Lang, Eng Lit and Politics - are they respected.?(Original post by kmikhaylov_101)
Tbh gcses aren't that important in the grand scheme of things , just choose respected a levels and do well in them and you'll be fine. -

I really would work your socks off to improve your GCSEs, you won't be getting near any of those unis for English (which is extremely extremely competitive) with those grades. People get rejected from Manchester and UCL with grades higher than that so the best thing you can do now is really work hard to improve your grades and then see where you stand.

Re: Could I get into the universities mentioned? :)Archaeology isn't the best choice, history would be better if that's where your interests lie.(Original post by GrantG)

Re: Could I get into the universities mentioned? :)Anything is possible, work your ass off at your A-Levels and you'll stand a good chance as anybody for getting offers.(Original post by GrantG)
