We have new subforums! This thread tells you where to put them :)
As I'm sure you've noticed, we have 2 new subforums ('Friends, Family and Work' and 'Mental Health'). We've also changed the name of the original H&R forum to 'Relationships' so that there is an obvious split between Health and Relationships. For more information about the changes, see this thread.
Anyway, here is a brief guide of where to post different types of thread. If you're unsure, don't worry, you can either post here for advice or pick the one that sounds best.
Relationships
Threads about attractiveness, height, facial features etc.
General threads about race, multiculturalism etc. (consider posting in Debate & Current Affairs)
Threads that are mainly about yourself or self-confidence issues. (although consider posting in Mental Health).
Easy-going debate/discussion threads that don't seek actual advice (consider posting in Debate & Current Affairs)
Anything to do with love, dating, boyfriends, girlfriends, sex (but keep it clean).
Relationship issues/advice.
LGBT+ threads relating to relationships and dating and non-relationship topics.
Issues relating to past relationships.
Threads about getting together with someone, asking someone out etc.
Friends, Family and Work
Issues with friends, parents, children, family members, classmates/coursemates, flatmates/housemates.
Threads asking for advice on behalf of someone else.
Threads about mourning (consider posting in Mental Health).
This is not an exhaustive list. Feel free to use your own judgement and, if you really can't decide, post here and a mod will tell you the best place to post.
See also this thread for where to post in Health and its subforums.Last edited by RK; 24-08-2012 at 14:56. -
Re: Not sure where your thread goes? See here! Why complicate and restrict the use of these forums? Surely you are just making it harder for yourselves. I can see the mods getting fed up of having to move an awful lot of threads posted in the wrong tenuous forum categories.(Original post by RightSaidJames)

Have you actually read the suggestions for what goes where? I put it to you that you could shuffle them all up and the vast majority would still be related to the forum.Last edited by scott202; 26-07-2011 at 22:17. -
Re: Not sure where your thread goes? See here! We're not restricting anything, I'm just trying to be helpful. Hopefully most users can work it out themselves, but this is intended to be a quick reference guide just in case it's needed.(Original post by scott202)

If there is an overlap between different forums then you can post the thread in either one and we probably won't move it. -
Re: Not sure where your thread goes? See here! The problem with that is that the threads were too muddled up and they ended up several pages back in less than an hour, whereas now a thread will, more likely, remain on the front page of each sub-forum for a couple of days so each thread has a fair chance of a response(Original post by Locogooner)
i preffered it when it was just one big sub forum.
. It also means that mods can keep better track of spamming, trolling etc so that the forum is clean for users who want serious answers/advice.

Re: Not sure where your thread goes? See here!
Please don't use this thread to discuss/complain about the changes; there are threads in this forum for you to do so.
Again, if anyone would like advice on where to post, they can do so here (anonymously, if you wish to ask about a potential anonymous thread)

Re: We have new subforums! This thread tells you where to put them :)
Following a long review of the Relationships forum, taking in to account the communities views, the moderators views and the statistics of forum activity, we have decided to merge the 'Romantic Relationships' forum back in to the main 'Relationships' forum.
We will continue to monitor how your community is working to see if any additional forum changes are needed, such as removing other forums or adding new ones to ensure it all works in the simplest and easiest ways for you guys. -

Re: We have new subforums! This thread tells you where to put them :)There was a lot of confusion over the difference between the two forums. We were finding that similar threads could end up in either Relationships or Romantic Relationships and despite moving then between the two, it wasn't always clear which forum was best. Some people (members and mods) were sticking to one or the other forum, rather than using both and it was ending up like we had two forums for the same topic - half the people using one and half the other.(Original post by Ice Constricter)
Why merge them?
It was just a very difficult thing to use and manage, perhaps because the 'Romantic Relationships' was a very broad category for a forum, but at the same time was very difficult to define what exactly when in there and what should remains in the main 'Relationships' forum. -
Re: We have new subforums! This thread tells you where to put them :)Ah, I see. I kinda see where you are coming from, it was very confusing. Also the term 'romantic relationships' would have signified the 'relationship' forum wasn't very romantic?(Original post by RK)

That and all the tons of things you mentioned make me see the reason for the merge.
Thanks.
But it is kinda weird that someone decided to neg me, I was simply asking a question on something I was curious about lol

Only thing I'm very concerned about is that as a forum, both relationships and romantic relationships were pretty fast moving, and now merged together they will move even quicker which isn't going to give people a chance to have enough replies or even be replied to at all! Sometimes some perhaps more serious threads asking for advice will have been taken off the first page and would not have been replied to and this concerns me. -

Can I remind everyone that this isn't the place to discuss changes to the site in detail. Please post in About
