    x
    => (k) - 2(k+5) + 1 = 0
    => k - 2k + 10 + 1 = 0

    Here, you've multiplied 5 by 2, not -2.

    I know what you mean, things like this can be annoying.

    (k) - 2(k+5) + 1 = 0

    k - 2k - 10 + 1 = 0

    minus 10 not +10

    hehe dont worry we all make them
    i had a great numerical methods lesson earlier, missed a minus in a table that ruined an entire question, then wrote a 2 instead of a 3, which ruined another entire question ..gave up when i got stuck again haha

    I usually spend about 20 minutes trying to figure out what went wrong, being too arrogant to start over or accept the fact that i'm wrong and ask for help :P

    obviously not in the exam, lol.
