Top Tips - Hosting A Party!
Me & my mate are hosting a joint 17th birthday party. We've both been too lot's in the past however neither of us have hosted a big party before. So, for those of you who have hosted one before what are your top tips? OR. Even those who have just been too lot's of party's in the past what thing's would you recommend? Party is in July and have a budget of around £200 which most of which will go on beer!
Kind of thing i'm looking for:
How many people to invite? i.e minimum & maximum
How many male's too female's ratio? i.e 50/50 or 30/70
How much beer to provide per-person? i.e 2 per person
How to split the amount between types? a.k.a how much smirnoff ice?
Stagger the beer? OR provide all at once?
Outside or Inside?
Type of music? Dubstep, cheesey, pop
How to make it a night to remember? Jelly Shots, Fancy Dress, Silent Disco?Last edited by wastry; 01-05-2012 at 20:13. -
Re: Top Tips - Hosting A Party!
Most people will expect BYOB, it's easier to coordinate, cheaper for you and people will drink what they want.
Though if you want to get a couple of bottles of vodka and some mixer then go for it.
I hope you're not attached to nice things in your house - word of big parties gets around and you'll probably get gate crashers.
Remember the neighbours too - they might have work the next day, or just not appreciate noise on a friday/saturday night! -

Say it's BYOB but maybe have a few bowls of cheap cocktail out throughout the party. E.g. Sex on the beach, vodka coke. Can get a bottle of vodka for like £8/9 at Aldi so just use that!
Don't know who you're inviting and their music tastes so can't help with that.
Don't make the mistake of trying to force fun, just be relaxed and make sure to enjoy yourself, because it's your party!

Re: Top Tips - Hosting A Party!
Totally depends on the venue! I did a massive one for my 17th last summer in a massive barn and invited about 300 people but i reckon 400 were there. It went really well, I hired two DJs who played dubstep music, and because there were so many people i got bouncers in because it was really close to a load of farm equipment and **** but thats the only reason i needed bouncers; to scare them from doing stuff they shouldn't. I served jelly shots which literally lasted 5 minutes :/ ahah, but yeah serve whatever you can but tbh they'll turn up drunk! one girl got out her taxi and just fell over.. she was paraletic before even getting inside the barn.
If it's in your house.. woah you're brave. :P If you put an invite on facebook make sure it's private... unless you want your house well and truly wrecked by a load of uninvited guests.
Fancy dress always goes down well, as long as its a good theme
good luck ahah
