    So frustrated with AS History
My first exam (Tudor) is in less than two weeks and I am totally unprepared. I've been through text book and typed up practically all my notes but I still feel like I know nothing! I'm getting a mid-B at the moment which I guess I would be pleased with, but I'm worried about slipping into the realms of C.
Does anybody know of any revision techniques that are useful? I need to do some serious cramming.

I am doing AS History as well: Britain Poverty and Public Health. What my teacher tells me is that reading the one book which your college/sixth form provides is not enough you have to do more reading, especially for a subject like history. You have already made the notes, make sure you memorize them, that's the main thing, I don't make notes because I can memorise things off the book. If you feel like you know nothing then try writing everything you know on to a piece of paper. This should train your memory.

Do at least one practice essay (open book) every day until the exam, and at least once, sit a full past paper, timed, as a practice. There is no substitute for this. This will not only give you practice at structuring your answers, but is the very best way to remember the key facts. If you want me to look at anything you've written to give advice on how you can make improvements in the exam, either in terms of form or content, just send it along.

An essay a day sounds... intimidating, but I suppose it will probably do the trick. Thanks for the offer by the way, I may well take you up on it.

Mind maps and essays. Works for history.

Not for everyone mind, but everyone I know that's done history has benefited from this approach.
