    chest pain when breathing
when i breath i get pain at my chest near my heart. Anyone know what i should do? or what is wrong with me?

If it helps when i take 400mg of ibuprofen it seems to be alittle less painful.

    thanks

You should probably go to the doctor as soon as you can. Or the hospital if you're especially worried. How painful is it? A little twinge or full blown agony?
It might be a heart problem, but it could equally be something to do with your windpipe if the pain's right in the centre of your chest. Are you making wheezing noises when you breath?
I mean, it could also be nothing at all. I don't know. But I'd definitely go to the doctor's if I were you, even if only to confirm that it's nothing serious.

It's potentially muscular or a lung issue (I had pleurisy not too long ago and had pain on breathing). However, I would phone NHS24 just for advice tonight or go to hospital just in case x

Go to the nearest walk-in centre, don't delay getting it checked, you never know what could happen....

    sounds like costochondritis/pleurisy (tietze's syndrome)

horrible sharp pain, hurts even with small breaths?

i've had it, tis horrible, but they can only give extra strong painkillers that make you drowsy

    hope you get well soon

i dont think its costocorditis. pain is only on deeper breaths.

please go to a doctor/hospital or call for advice...I had bad chest pain which I ignored for a few hours because I wasn't sure if it was serious or not, even made a thread like this one as I wasn't sure. Turned out my lung had collapsed, and I was in hospital for nearly a month. Might not be as serious, but you can never tell with these things!

Have you been punched in the chest recently, or played a contact sport. Cos I usually get the same type of pain after scrapping with my brother.

    Some big words here.

It could also be anything from a trapped nerve, muscular pain etc. I get it occasionally, and pretty severe pain too; had numerous health checks (my Dad had a daughter that died of a heart issue so I've been checked thoroughly), ECGs and other stuff, and nothing's wrong with me.

Whilst there's no reason to NOT go to the doctor or hospital, I'd be cautious of over-reacting.

There was a thread on precordial catch syndrome a couple of days ago... I'd not heard of it before tbh but it sounds like you *might* have the symptoms for that.

    1. Could be some sort of asthma 2. Could be bad lungs 3. You could have anxiety/anxiety attacks (you do not need the disorder to have attacks. I know that personally) No matter what, go see a doctor! Knowing is the best thing.

I would just go to the doctor.
It could be a chest infection, asthma or something similar.
