Re: About UCAS tarrif(Original post by doughnut92)
The higher the number of UCAS points, the better the grades you'll need to get in.
So yes, essentially, it'll require more work to get the grades, if that's the case.
To get to 450, I'm guessing that'd need another A-Level?
.....But I can't understand. The top 10 uni( in the CUG ranking) all need above 400. But in their websites, some only require ABB, 320. So.... -
Re: About UCAS tarriffirst, dont wrry unis usually do their offers on the base of ABB or something they dont do 350 ucas tariff.. but usually(Original post by Whiskey)

and second, theres a flaw in the tariff points system so unis usually offer u the equivalent of their requirements on their websites
and it also changes with course

Re: About UCAS tarrifSo you mean beside the three A levels, some may also take more than 3 AS levels?(Original post by shelly1)
Don't forget the points from any AS levels not taken onto A level. Also the new A* grade is worth 140 points. -
Re: About UCAS tarrifThanks! So normally, how many AS levels will students take? Will uni also consider the AS levels which I didn't carry through to A2?(Original post by Cyclohexane)
What she means is the AS levels you didn't carry through to A2 are worth points too so don't forget about those when summing up your points. They are half of an A level and so worth half the points. E.g. A at AS is worth 60, B 50 etc.Last edited by Whiskey; 03-05-2012 at 15:24. -
Re: About UCAS tarrifUsually (for the people I knew) in the year of AS's, you'd do 4 then carry on 3 to A-Level. So you'd leave with 3 A-Levels and 1 AS.(Original post by Whiskey)

Re: About UCAS tarrifyes they should. After all it is a grade and u worked for it.(Original post by Whiskey)

Most unis just ask for 3 A-Levels though. -
Re: About UCAS tarrifWill any uni ask for 4 A levels? It is hard to believe some will get 470 points...(Original post by newhope)
yes they should. After all it is a grade and u worked for it.

Re: About UCAS tarrifThe standard offers mostly based on three A Levels, and you won't be at a disadvantage for doing only three. However, if you take four A Levels, the university can ask you to meet an offer involving all four of your A Levels.(Original post by Whiskey)
Will any uni ask for 4 A levels? It is hard to believe some will get 470 points... -
Re: About UCAS tarrifi would ignore that 470 points. I did 3 Alevel and did very avg but got into the best unis. So do not worry about it.(Original post by Whiskey)

Just apply and look for each individual course requirements instead of the avg for the whole uni.
if u work hard at A-levels all will be good -
Re: About UCAS tarrifFor example, KCL business require 3 As in A-levels, but its avg is 457(Original post by newhope)

But 3As in Alevel and one A in AS is 420. So it means most of the people get a least one A* to get in...
