    Sore abs
    Hey all

I've recently started working out with my brother, and it's really fun and rewarding, but now I've been havign sore abs for three days, and I'd like to know what to do about it.
At first I thought I'd get used to it, but it got worse as I continued. I tried stretching, but it didn't help. Should I just not touch them until they're fine again?

How often are you training your abs? What kind of volume?

You have worked them enough. To give you the bro science explaination, you have broken the tiny fibers in your abs and they are now rebuilding stronger than before.

If you are trying gain muscle, this sensation of pain is very good. You should also stop working out that body part until the pain goes away. You need to give the body time to recover.

For example I worked my arms very hard on Friday and they still hurt on Monday. It is totally normal

By volume he means how loudly are you grunting while performing the exercises. After all, if you don't grunt it doesn't count .

Like the previous post, completely normal. But your body needs time to rest and repair before you work out again. The pain will start to ease and soon will disappear. Next time you will feel much less pain after working out as your muscles will be slightly stronger, your body just needs time to adjust, especially if you go straight from doing a little to a lot!

This does happen for the most part, however you should really be looking to replicate that same sensation of pain again. It is not a one time thing. It is just because people get into a routine and the body gets used to it.

In that case I tend to grunt pretty loud^^ didn't know it was important

If say my abs are sore but my arms are fine, can I train my arms without damaging my abs? (lol I know that was a stupid question)

I used to get this and I found out it was due to dehydration and not warming up my core properly. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and stretch properly before and afer your workout. The feeling of tightness within your abs should subside in a few days and eventually, your abs will get used to it!
