Criminal Law - Substantial and Operating Cause
Hi, I have a slight issue in determining whether the defendants act is the substantial and operating cause. The situation is that the victim entered into the defendants crime (aggravated arson) with full awareness of the crime taking place and subsequently died. Therefore, would the defendants act be the substantial and operating cause or has there been an intervening break in the chain (victim entering the building).
Thanks in advance,
