    AS Biology May 2012
I've been struggling all year with this course and feel like such an idiot for leaving it so late to start worrying properly.

Unit 1 is on the 14th May
Unit 2 is on the 21st May

Is it still viable to get an A/B in this subject?

Can someone with previous experience please help!!

    Thanks,

I take it your on OCR? My advice is to just go through the textbook, the ecology and conservation stuff is pretty boring and mostly memory though.

Don't worry, just go through the past papers. The questions tend to be recycled and if you can just go through revision notes (some are online) and ask your teachers concerning anything you are struggling with.

Try GetRevising for some revision material. I find them pretty good and keep going through past papers and the supplied textbook as said above as this will really help. I hope your revision goes well =)

pal thats quite easy. u have to draw bar chart in this one.. The y axis would be the mean dry mass and the x axis would be the lack of any mineral ions such as without potassium ions etc. all of which is given in the data.

oh yeah you should revise everything while you can, after school, bank holiday. I've spent most of my day revising. gone up about 5%

    @shahlakh
in mark scheme it is given as y-axis root, shoot and not the mean dry mass that actually confused me.

look the mark scheme means that there would be two bar charts for each lacking mineral ion....one would be for the root and the other for the shoot.

Me I always mess the biodiversity questions up and they're normally worth quite a bit. But the grade boundaries seem quite low?
And I'm retaking f211 so that doesn't help

I felt in the same boat as you until you mentioned the A/B, I've struggled so much I'm hoping for a D/E, I'd love a C but I like to think realistically to my own abilities...

It is possible, providing you put in the work!

NGL. Doing past papers might help. BUT...... A lot of it ain't going to be recycled. If you did the January 2012 papers this year for the sciences, a lot of it was a lot different to past papers. Biology was the biggest change I reckon, hence a higher grade boundary than other years. But unit 2 should be the relatively the same, as I couldn't see much difference from that paper to the past. All i'm really worried is this Biology unit 1. No means to scare you, but i reckon it's probably gonna be a lot harder than past papers, since jan 2012 unit 1 bio grade boundaries was high.

Now, revision, what i did was to do EVERY SINGLE QUESTION in my CGP and nelson thornes book. I also did 2 old spec papers. The big questions at the end? Anybody's guess. i'll be honest with you. But if i reckon probably phospholipid bi layer or something to do with the heart, eg. how does the valves work. Pressure, etc.

I am in the same boat as you, just dont panic, stay calm and study everything , go over everything. But DO NOT CRAM THE NIGHT BEFORE!!!!!!!! It will do you no good, get a GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP AND HAVE A HEALTHY BREAKFAST (not with loads of sugar, its better to have carbohydrates before exams). :eating:

Just get a good nights sleep TONIGHT AND TOMORROW NIGHT!!!! :moon:
