Re: need help with this SHL test
My understanding of psychometric testing is that there isn't a great deal you can do about practice. At best, you can look at examples so you're not completely taken by surprise.
Other people have told me that the point of them was (theoretically) that you couldn't revise or practice for them and that they were supposed to test instinctive or inherent traits. Someone on one of the law forums also suggested that it's better to answer them in that way rather than think about them too much.
On one level - this makes sense. If you can revise and practice psychometric testing - then what's the point? You might as well just go on exam results. -
Re: need help with this SHL testI completely disagree. From my experience they are as practicable as any other exam or test and the more you practice the better you get at them. I've even seen the exact same questions being used again in different tests!(Original post by Clip)

They're just another tool used by HR to whittle down the amount of applicants, nothing more, and I know that in some cases the results will be ignored if the applicant has lots of relevant experience and seems like the type of person that the company would want to employ. Although I suppose if you're a borderline case you'd better start practising... -

Cant open the link?!
Also recently completed numerical and verbal reasoning for a financial services firm though I failed as the questions were hard and highly time pressured, for numerical had a minute per question but for verbal there was 30 questions in 15 minutes. Had a response that I had passed so I guess they compare your result with that of others and if good enough you are selected to the next round. -
Re: need help with this SHL test
I'd be happy to walk you through any individual questions, but I haven't got the time or patience to explain all of them. I'm yet to fail one of these (fingers crossed) so name the question and I'll do my best to explain

Oh and as to the above, you're unlikely to go from 12/38 to 35/38 given they are aptitude based, but you can definitely improve by understanding the questions better. No reason why you couldn't double your score IMO. -
