Natural and Legal/Positive Rights
I don't know if I have the right understanding of what a natural right is and what a positive right is.
First, why do those who argue that rights are legal rather than natural say that they must be recognised by the law, when certain rights can go unrecognised by the law? Surely to make laws in the first place there is a period before they are made legal when they are not recognised by the law. -

"Nonsense on stilts" lol..
Was true two centuries ago and still is today. The only rights a person has IMO are those granted by his or her society. I would say everybody should be entitled to a given dignity, but even then this obviously has not been followed in every culture. In much of the world today, it is not. -
Re: Natural and Legal/Positive RightsHow about the right to breath? Does that need granting by the state?(Original post by dandarsford)
