Is A Level Applied Science hard and it is respected by unis?
I am thinking of doing a health related degree such as Physiotherapy, Dietetics, or Occupational Therapy but I dont do A Levels in Biology or Chemistry.
I only did BTEC Science at GCSE which is equivalent to two GCSES, I got CC
I was wondering if Applied Science A Level is hard? would i find it hard since i did BTEC Science? and it respected by unis an A Level?
I like it because its mostly coursework!!!

not a very heard of A level im afraid. I think Uni's would much prefer A-Levels in Biology and Chemistry for those Uni courses. Also most Uni's prefer that there applicants are doing 2 science A levels

It's not respected. It would be better to do Biology and Chemistry if you can.

I can't speak on the difficulty but from reading I do know it's less respected than the three traditional Science A Levels. That said, it might be perfectly acceptable depending on which unis you're considering.

Although less respected as already said, I always hear the teachers at my college muttering about how the applied science group are better at practicals, so I think the course generally looks at practical science. just though I'd say.

    Hi,

Sorry for late replies i know its week ago but seeing as the App science exam is later today and i was looking up to see if anyone was discussing it i will help you out a bit.

Firstly what other A levels do you want to take?

Ok so dietetics and psysiotherapy are clinical based and the monitoring of the human body section is mostly on clinical tests such as blood sampling, ECG's and xrays and the other on Respiration and the mechanics of the heart.

If you look at psysiotherapist courses they ALL except PE as a science A level so if your not doing bio or chem then PE is a must to meet the requirments.

The chemistry side you do a lot of Lab practicals and the coursework is good because it shows you now how to write a good essay.

So i hope this helps, but do with whatever you feel confortable! Good luck and let us know!
