    History grade boundaries on edexcel?
Hi guys! I have two exams on History in June on the 12th and 15th this year, and I was wondering what the grade boundaries are for the two papers!

The first paper I am taking is: History B3 Option A- Transformation of surgery The referrence for this paper is: 5HB033A

The second paper im taking is: History B1 Option A- Medicine and treatment.
The referrence for this paper is: 5HBO11A

If you know where to obtain the grade boundaries for this year in June or could supply me with them then please let me know!
(Nothing that goes against the boards rules by the way. Only supply me with documents that you know edexcel have made publicly available please, thank you)

    Thanks in advance!

It's been a while since you posted and nobody's replied yet...maybe you should check out MarkedbyTeachers.com, TSR's sister site. It has the largest library of essays in the UK.

They've got over 181,000+ coursework, essays, homeworks etc.. all written by GCSE, A Level, University and IB students across all topics. You get access either by publishing some of your own work, or paying £4.99 for a month's access. Both ways give you unlimited access to all of the essays.

All their documents are submitted to Turnitin anti-plagiarism software, so it can't be misused, and the site's used by hundreds of thousands of UK teachers and students.

What's more, you can take a look around the site and preview the work absolutely free. Click here to find out more...

Hello, I'm taking the same exam too and I've been looking for them for ages. Have you found them? If you have, could you send me the link? I've been looking for the January 2012 Surgery question paper aswell. Thank you!

orangee123: I have not found them yet! I think they are not released until after the exam has been taken throughout the nation because the boundaries change each year depending on how hard the paper is. In addition, I have a lot of past papers for both surgery and medicine. I have papers from 2010-2012. However, I cannot send you the link as my teacher gave them to me.. They are already on my documents and so there is not link to them.

    Are these the grade boundaries?

What grade are you aiming for?
Yeah, I do have a few past papers myself, it is good that edexel provide a lot of past papers and mark schemes as other exam boards do not do the same. My teacher has given me the 2012 medicine paper and I have the sources booklet for surgery, is it possible if you could type out the questions? I'd be very thankful.

I'm partciularly worried about the Surgery exam, it's on Tuesday and I find it very difficult. I'm more confident about the medicine paper though. Is it a core subject at your school?

    Thanks again.

    It's fine!
I don't think it has gone too well, I didn't complete question 4 properly but I did write something for each question. A lot of the people who were taking the exam came out feeling dreadful.. What about you? We've had a silly teacher that has not taught us anything but I do think it was my fault as I could have done more revision so I feel a bit disappointed as I've left myself down. I understood Joseph Lister quite well but as soon as I opened the paper my mind literally went blank! I think I assumed that I wouldn't find it so hard as I did well in the Germany paper. Atleast I've learnt a lesson! How about you? How did you find the exam?
Are you supposed to be told the topic your exam is based on before? My teacher had told us the topic it is based on just before we walked into the hall!
Is History a core subject at your school?

Good luck in the medicine paper & I hope the grade boundaries helped :-)

Ah, don't worry about it, you have done well in your Germany paper so that'll probably cover this exam if you do come out with a below average grade. As long as you have written something for each question, and structured the 16 mark question correctly, you should be fine. No, your not meant to be told the topic, not even just before you enter the hall... its against the rules a regulations. However, our teacher has been a history teacher for 16 years and he protected it would be on Lister, and as we saw it was, therefore for this reason I was able to study him in depth.

I found the exam reasonably easy in terms of analysing the sources and applying my own knowledge where needed. The only problem was the timing, I found that the history paper was very hard given the time that was set... But, I did complete it so im not too worried. And no history is not a core subject at my school, i chose it as an optional GCSE.

What did you get in your coursework? Because if you did well in that too, that will benefit you a lot as that is worth the same amount as an exam. I got an A* in it, which im extremely happy about as I was not expecting it.

Thank you! Good luck to you too, im sure you will do fine. The medicine paper is actually considered to be easier than they surgery and you are more likely to come out with a better grade on that paper! Just don't panic, thats the key.

    Kind regards, Kye.

Re: History grade boundaries on edexcel?
Ah thanks, but I reckon I could've done a lot more revision. Yeah, the teacher in the other class assumed it was going to be on infection and Lister, so all my friends in that class studied that in more depth whilst I was studying other topics like blood loss..

As soon as I got into that exam, I forgot everything! I think that was down to cramming everything the night before and doing that last minute revision just before you enter the hall.. I did complete most of it but I was supposed to come back to a question but I didn't have enough time to. I wish I was taught more about it at school, I reckon I'll be retaking that:-( If I get a C or below, I will be retaking.
Yeah same, for some schools, you have to pick either History or Geography I think. What options have you chosen?

That's really good! Well done! I did not put a lot of effort into it as I was not aware that it was our real coursework until later so I only got a B. I am going to try to retake it though so I can improve my grade. I would like to get at least an A in history, but I don't think it will happen due to the lack of effort I've put in for these exams :/

How did you find the medicine paper? I found it a bit easier, but our teacher told us to revise a few topics in particular that didn't even come up.. I found it quite difficult as all the topics I didn't know in depth came up.

I've definately learnt that you should not try to cram everything in at the last minute because it won't work! You'll only just forget everything. I haven't had any other proper GCSE's so I guess I can prepare better for them!
How do you revise? I think I need better revision techniques!

Hope you get the result you want but I'm sure you will.
