    Getting weighed at the doctors
I want to register at a new doctors but if I do they will weigh me and take my blood pressure. I know I need to lose weight and have lost two stone so far this year. I'm worried they'll just give me a lecture on dieting and make a fuss? Can I just say to them that I'm aware and I don't wish to speak about it?!

You don't have to be weighed if you don't wish to.

I've spent most of my life moving around and having to change doctors and have always declined to be weighed, sometimes they don't even ask at all!

I got weighed when I registered at a doctor and my BMI put me in the overweight category but they didn't even mention it once. Don't worry about it, if they mention it just say you know and you're losing weight atm, no biggie.

It depends on your doctors - I wasn't weighed and technically I'm supposed to be weighed regularly because of the steroids I have to take.

If I were you, should they want to weigh you and potentially have a go about your weight, I would just nip it in the bud and bring up your weight-loss early (well done by the way!). Perhaps even mention it at the start of the appointment so they are aware before you even get on the scales.

Some like to weigh you just to get some general statistics and indications about your overall health, but tell them you'd rather not be weighed and they shouldn't be bothered. If they do make any comments, just say that you're aware of your weight and that you're currently losing weight.

Although, there's no real reason that you should be worried about getting weighed. I used to be like that, but now that I've lost weight it's fantastic to look back over my past weigh ins. You might get the same advantages if you're losing weight!

Please don't shoot me down from this bit of advice but I would say you should just get weighed, there's no point shying away from your problems because they won't go away doing that, I know you say you have lost weight and that is great. But it might spur you on even harder to prove it to the doctor if you get weighed by them, plus some advice. But it's up to you take it or leave it...

Same goes for anything in life really don't shy away from your problems, face up to them!

On top of what other's have said; Doctors see people of all shapes and sizes multiple times a day.
They will be happy and not to mention supportive if you weigh more now, knowing that your taking that futher.

It's never as bad as it seems.
