Man legally changes name to Tyrannosaurus Rex

YORK What’s in a name? In this case, a few unusual words for one York man who has legally changed his name to Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The term, which in Greek means “tyrant lizard king,” is the name assigned to a large dinosaur. Now, it’s also the title officially adopted by Tyler Gold, 23.

Gold appeared in York County District Court Monday morning, before Judge Alan Gless who heard the unusual request.

In Gold’s official filing with the court, he said he wanted to change his name “because the (T-Rex designation) is cooler. Also, as an entrepreneur, name recognition is important and the new name is more recognizable.” He verbally repeated his reasoning during the court proceedings, while on the witness stand.

Judge Gless asked Gold if he wanted to change his name because he was hiding from creditors or law enforcement. Gold said none of those factors were involved in his request.

Gless noted that Gold had gone through all the proper channels of changing his name, which included formal filing with the court and notice publication.

At the end of Monday’s hearing, Gold’s name was officially changed to Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold.

He was one of 3 things at the time:

Drunk
High
An idiot

The latter is a more permanent state and would seem to be the case here.

Too true  Thankfully the courts being open and me being drunk don't usually coincide!

And for the rest of his life, people will call him "T-rex" instead.

Well at least it'll settle the age-old playground spat of "My Dad will batter your Dad" faster than usual....

lmagine this. You are attracted to women, like you are now (emotionally and sexually), but they do not exist. They existed a long time ago, and no one knows what they looked like (They have a pretty good idea from the fossils, however), but they do not exist anymore. That means, not only do you know there will never be any possibility of you having sex with one, but there's not even a possibility of you ever seeing one in real life. Everyone else, however, except for a very few, are not attracted to women, they are attracted to something else entirely. So in other words, you will never find any porn anywhere on the internet, only non-sexual pictures of women. Everyone you have told about your attraction to women think it's disgusting. To relieve yourself, you get off on the non-sexual pictures of women, knowing it will never get any better.

That's what life is like to me.

I am a degree 6 Zoosexual, sexually and emotionally attracted to Tyrannosaurs and nothing else. Women don't even do it for me. I am cursed to live my life in the misery that my most powerful emotional fantasies will never be even close to coming true. Life is like hell to me. I will never know true love.
Attention seeking prick. Unfortunately for him it hasn't got beyond York News.
Would it be possible to change your name to Adolf Hitler?

I'd be really disappointed if his appearance was really weasely and not worthy of his name... Unfortunately I think this is more likely.

You just know this will be his opening gambit in making conversations with new acquaintance, as if it makes him interesting somehow. No, you just chose to name yourself after a dinosaur. Anyone can do this, it's not a substitute for substance.

not really, is someone told me they'd called themselves trex by dpole i'd think they were a ****.

people dont do it to be cool, people do it for intentionally the wrong kind of attention. they know people will make fun.

You have to do all that to change your name in the US? Here you can do it online for a £30 fee. I'm actually tempted to give myself an extra middle name.
IMO everyone should change at least some aspect of their name. Why live with what you were given by your parents? Make up your own mind!

I'm seriously considering adding in a few middle names, although I'd stop at a full name change, I think.

At least his name is his choice, unlike Moon Unit Zappa or Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof's.
