Predictions for Higher Modern Studies 2012
I'm finding modern studies INSANELY difficult to study for, has anyone got any ideas or been given any hints for what question A1, A4, B5/B6 & C7 might be? & the DME too. thank you so much if you're able to help!

right, these are questions that I'm hoping and praying for...
    A1 - scottish solutions to scottish problems/devolution
A4 - IM PRAYING FOR AMS.
B5/6 - no idea what to expect
and I do C9, so I'm hoping for powers of the President/Political inequalities in the USA
my teacher also thinks that AMS will come up

    I think
A1 will be on conflict or reforming local government
A4 on voting METHODS. Maybe something to do with Party List?
B5/6 Surely something on the Welfare State? Hopefully?!
C7 I've genuinely no idea. Thinking economic or political inequalities though

Here's the questions I'm hoping for/my teachers predictions for what questions will come up:

A4: Influence of social class on voting behaviour or fairer systems than FPTP.
(Hoping for voting systems, but they hardly ever ask that! )

B5/6: Possibly poverty affecting health/Government strategies to reduce health/wealth inequalties
    (I'm hoping for government strategies!)
Another thing you might notice if you look back over B5/6 in the past is that they only ever ask the same few questions, just 'dressed' differently.

We do China and the USA so

C8: Hoping for Human Rights (a girl can always dream!) but it could be something about China becoming a more democratic society.

C9: Possibly powers of the president, but more likely ethnic minority participation in voting with it being an election year and Obama being an influence for Blacks.

    Hope this helps a little!

Our school didn't really go over it either, which is really concerning.
I've got no idea what to expect. I thought I was super prepared last year and managed to rock out of the exam with No Award.
Dreading tomorrow. I can't retain any information because I'm so worried about it.

Forgot to add that the DME will probably be on Health this year as last year it was Wealth and if you look back, it goes Wealth-Health-Wealth-Health etc. They havent asked the same topic 2 years in a row...... YET...

Just put in the Welfare State as your BK for DME. Can't go wrong.

I'm pretty sure A1 is going to be about Local Councils, probably conflict/co-operation with the S.p.

There hasn't been a councils question since 2008, so It will more than likely occur this year.

Well A1 I doubt it will be on Scottish solutions to Scottish problems as these have came up since 2009 2010 2011 and back in 2007. I would have to agree with this next quote I will cover with that local government is almost a guarantee due to the fact it's not been asked at all other than in 2008.

    I agree with A1
A4 party list? I honestly doubt it as they must know that schools rarely teach a lot about party list. Voting methods? What would these be? There is a pattern with social class voting. 2007-voting methods-2008-Attitudes-2009 Attitudes-2010 voting systems-2011-Voting Attitudes ~See the pattern?

I agree with powers of the president . Not been asked since like 2007. Ethnic vote attitudes is also a possibility.

Nope I don't think party list could come up as AMS is a usual question and is almost guaranteed if it has anything to do with party list system. Maybe STV with Scotland just going through the mid term elections. However if you look at the pattern above I posted...Voting attitudes is still a big possibility.

Welfare state I would agree good B/K. Also note recent reforms to the budget and some famous quotes from high up political figures cannot go wrong. Also news from newspapers cannot go wrong either.

It's the report that i feel let me down, i really struggled with background knowledge. I mentioned tuition fees being scrapped, how you have to pay for private schools which working class (some) cannot afford, and these schools are known for achieving higher grades. I also mentioned how schools in some deprived areas will be deprived of resources, how Government policies have dealt with inequalities in the past, such as Equal Pay Act etc....The Glass Ceiling idea for women.

I think the grade boundaries will be roughly the same this year because the paper 1 balanced out the difficulty of the DME

What is the criteria for a 15/15 essay and does anyone know if it is easier to get a 15/15 essay in an exam because the markers take into account the time constraint as opposed to doing one in class?
