Is it too late for me to drop out of A2? :S
    Hello!

Ok, so basically I am really struggling in History A2 and I know that I'm not gonna do well (as in get a U). I'm falling behind in my other two subjects because I've got to put double time into History. I really think that I can do better if I drop History now (exam is in June), and focus on the other two, which are more important and relevant to my uni course. Only chose History cos there were no other subjects in that block that I liked.

I can still get into my firm and insurance uni's if I only get my target grades for the other two (entry requirements very low for both uni's), but I can only do this if I drop History. Problem is, the coursework is gonna be sent off to be moderated soon, and obviously it's VERY late. Can I tell my teachers to drop me out of History now, or am I obligated by law to go through with it?

    Please reply ASAP!

no-one can force you to go through with it but it would be simpler just to stop doing any work for it and focus on your other subjects. You can spare a couple of hours to sit the exam and you might surprise yourself and get a pass. Have you talked this through with a careers adviser/ teacher/ your parents?

Yep. Some people think I'm crazy, some people think it's reasonable. But in the end, I know myself the most and I can say without a doubt that I will NOT 'surprise' myself, and it's better that I not have to tell UCAS that I got a U/E lol

But am I right in assuming what you're saying is that it's NOT too late? I can get them to withdraw my coursework and the exam?

You might as well stop revising for it and do the exam on the day, you may surprise yourself and you've got some security in coursework so give it a shot on the day and make sure focus fully on the subjects you are continuing. I wouldn't just drop out though, you've put a year of work into it so you might as well see what happens.

If you decide to not do the exam, you still need to inform your firm and insurance uni to double check, and so that they know not to chase up your history grade when it come, regardless of what your offers are. Good luck

How do I inform them exactly? Through UCAS? Or do I need to email them individually? O_O

Email them individually, though I'd prefer to call up to make sure they fully understand, it's what I did.
