How to get over those jittery interview feelings?
I absolutely hate calling to arrange an interview, the actual interview and the whole job search in general. I'm always so nervous.
I'll be graduating soon, so it's time to find a job, the only problem is, i become so nervous when i have to actually call up or attend an interview, and because of this, i tend to stumble on my words, give abrupt answers, and say a lot of 'umm... er..' which doesn’t translate well and makes me seem incompetent
I've just had to call up to arrange an interview for the perfect job (imo: local, good pay, great experience). I was so nervous about calling, i wrote down exactly what i would say, wrote some facts about the company, had my CV in front of me, and the email i had sent the company so i was prepared but i still felt sick. i contemplated not even calling. I know, how silly of me, i should be happy to even get an interview.
I decided to dial the number so there was no going back, but the person i was in contact with was in a meeting and i was told to call back later on today or tomorrow morning. Ahh.. I don't want to go through this process again when i call back. I just don't know how to stop being so nervous over the phone.
Any suggestions on how to gain a little confidence when speaking to potential employers over the phone? or getting over that horrible nervous feeling?
Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appriciated

Learn to get over it if you want a job. You just have to have the mindset that you are competing with loads of people, are they going to pick the person who jitters, ums and ahs or the person who goes out there and grabs the job with both hands? You have to be perseverant at the moment, unless you fancy a long term relationship with the job centre.

Re: How to get over those jittery interview feelings?
My friend arrived early to an interview once and was getting really nervous waiting, so went into the toilets and masturbated. He said it did relieve his stress, but wouldn't recommend it as other people coming into the toilets ruins the moment.
Oh and, he didn't get the job. Maybe they knew

Re: How to get over those jittery interview feelings?I know i have to get over the initial nerves. During previous interviews (for p/t retail positions) i've felt most nervous in the lead up to the interview. During the interview I’ve been ok, not great, but satisfactory which simply won't cut it now that I’m competing against other graduates who are confident and have greater experience. It's easy to say 'get over it' but how? The pressure of securing a job is overwhelming but i will have to try and get over it or as you said, I’ll be making regular trips to the job centre.(Original post by Chapeau Rouge)

The waiting is the worst part, but i think I’ll give the toilet tip a miss. I would be horrified if i was caught.(Original post by Naarim)
