How are league table entry tariffs calculated?

    How are league table entry tariffs calculated?
    For example this website (http://www.thecompleteuniversityguid...y&s=Philosophy) says that Essex has an entry tariff of 365 points but on Essex's website it says they want ABB-BBB so that's like 320 max.
    Does the league tale take into account AS grades and general studies and stuff too?
    I'm so confused

    Afaik the cug takes the average points of people actually enrolling... Some of them will have beaten their offer.
