    Audio Technica M50s
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone owns a set of these and can give me some reviews/stories. Are they a good pair? Any better at around the price range?

    Thanks

The M50s are something of an icon among headphone enthusiasts, and are probably the single most recommended pair of cans to newcomers to high end audio for their superb price: performance ratio. The sound they put out is very clean and balanced enough that virtually any genre of music can be enjoyed with them, they aren't the most analytical headphone but for the average listener they don't get much better for sub-£150 as a set of all rounders. Definitely highly recommended, you'll have a lot of trouble finding anybody who wouldn't.

Regarding a better pair for the money, that really depends on you. How much do you want to spend, what kind of music do you listen to and where will you be using them?

I've read reviews on them, but not from someone who had actually owned them and used them on a regular basis so thanks for your opinion

I'll listen to mostly anything and everything, but because I'll be using them a lot in quite spaces, I'll need a pair of headphones that don't leak sound a lot like my current set. The highest that I'm willing to go is around £150, so they are right in my price range.

The M50s are probably idea then, isolation is pretty good and are generally a really nice set for any number of genres.

That's really not something to base a decision on, I have a set of £30 Taiwanese headphones which put out better audio than the Solo HDs =P You're right about the M50s being awesome, but being better than Beats is like declaring somebody's a better runner than an amputee.

M50s do leak a bit of sound, I'd have to turn the volume pretty low to use them in a library. I dunno how much isolation you can get from overhead headphones though, even if they're closed back
