USA congress has long been defending not so much American interests...
Don't you think USA congress has long been defending not so much American interests but rather been exploited by some murky persons to benefit some other countries? If you are really rich you are allowed many things (if not all thinkable things) in our congress? Which is really a big worry imo.
Georgian billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili has been in the focus recently as a major Georgian opposition figure, as he's been portraying himself. Dozens of lobbyists and lobbyist firms are hired by him. He claims he's voicing criticism of the Saakashvili regime in Georgia to improve Georgian democracy actually. I got interested and made a try to delve into the issue.
I was really amazed to learn some details. For instance some big-name firms sort of Patton Boggs and Mcgrath Groups have been paid for lobbyist effort...... both by Saakashvili regime and his "ardent critic" Ivanishvili!! Wella....the guys are real mates actually! And they've been just using our congress to fool whole world proving there's really mature opposition active in Georgia, which means mature democracy in Georgia as well!
Such a recognition is utmost important on the eve of parliamentary elections in Georgia pending in October. As stipulated by "Georgia Democracy Act of 2012" introduced by congressmen McDermott (key lobbyist of Ivanishili), Georgia will get huge gratuitous financial aid from the USA if our State Sec qualifies the elections as most democratic, based on fair competition and all that. So Ivanishili as a Saakashvili agent has been working to achieve exactly this sort of conclusion for sure. This gambling is worth it for Georgia needs badly our bucks, lots of them!
