    Help- JSA for access student
    Hi guys.

So I am studying at the moment, on a Access to HE course that is 14h a week. I started my course in January. I have been looking actively for work ever since but I have not got one yet. Because I am desperately needing money and can no longer afford not to have any source of income, I applied to JSA allowance and went for an interview on the 10th of May. In this interview I applied to JSA. I was asked to go there last Monday again to hand in that sheet in which people have to explain, every two weeks, what they have been doing to find work- applications they have made etc. So I handed in the sheet with no blank spaces in it because I have been applying everywhere! In the interview the lady asked me if I was available to work 40h per week, and I said I was. Now obviously I am not. But in my opinion it is even more difficult to get a FT than PT job these days so that should be fine.

So, what happens now? How long does it take for them to give me answer and tell me if I am entitled or not? I hope that the fact that I am registered as a Job seeker will make it easier for me to get a job. Is that the case?

    Many thanks guys.

If you're at college, you must be willing to give up your course if a job comes up. You can change the amount of hours you work if you're disabled or have caring responsibilities.

I am in exactly the same position, you are able to sign on, no problem, as long as you keep looking for work, I am an access student at college 14 hours a week, I've had no issues, x
