Is it vital that you get 4 A's at AS level to be able to apply for universities such as Oxford, Imperial or UCL. I want to apply for computer science at ox mainly. And I think I will end up with AAAB or AABB (maths, f maths, physics, econ). I do have lots of relavant extra curriculur. Is it likely ill even get considered or is it a waste of time?
Look at their offers, see what you need to get and if you think you'll match the offers then go for them. If not then I don't see there's much of a point.

Obviously you have to meet their entry requirements. But other than that, they evaluate your application based upon a wide variety of circumstances.

People get into Ox without aaaa every year, because they have so many other filtering mechanisms (interview, TSA/ubject test in the main), but then again lots get rejected with aaaa too.

ECs don't seem to count for too much there, but if they're highly relevant could help.

Not sure about the others. But you can only go to one uni so having a couple of riskier choices on your UCAS isn't a problem so long as you have some you think you are a strong candidate for.

If you're predicted AAA at A Level then it's usually good enough

You need to check up on the uni requirements and send them emails if you have any other questions (anonymously of course)

My friend got AAAB at AS Level and got an interview for History at Oxford

Is extended project 'extra curricular' I heard they can be accepted as an actual AS level?
A tutor told me that they may factor it into considering someone's offer, but it's not a definite advantage because some would not have had the opportunity to do it.

Also, some place more emphasis on things than others. Your score in whatever aptitude test you may have to take may swing in your favour with some and may be irrelevant to others. I met a History student at Oxford who did quite badly at her HAT but still got in.

Also don't forget that you can apply twice if you want to. A few I met said that the year off helped them to decide what degree they really wanted to study and there are plenty of students at Oxford who were rejected first time round and got in the second time. One woman I met on a Politics trip actually got in on her 3rd go!

So yeah, basically, if you think you can get in, and if you think that's where you'd be happiest, then definitely try your best, because you never know. If not, then there are plenty of lovely universities both here and abroad that could cater to your wishes.

it helps but not vital, a lot of weight is placed on predicted grades as well.
i got ABCE at AS level and got an offer from UCL.
Oxbridge maybe a bit different though..
