    Well done

Quick question; how do you know what roles are available??? I really want to join as pilot or aircrew, so how can I tell when they will be recruiting next??? (Although chances are ofc vvvv slim :P)

    THanks

Well done laddie. Remember that phase 1 (or whatever they call it in the RAF) is sometimes really crap, but it is worth it. Work hard and keep going.

Nobody knows the answer to this question yet, anyone who claims to is simply speculating. My best guess is maybe not for another year.

By registering with RAF Careers for the role, ring them up and find out yourself, though for Pilot they won't bother putting you on the system.

Because there are about 30million* people waiting for it to be open, and they have no idea when that's going to be, so they're in no hurry to clog the system up with applicants who might have changed their minds/details in the next 18months/2yrs+. When the pipeline does eventually open, the RAF will not be short of applicants so they feel no need to get ahead of the game.

*exaggeration, but you get my point

I see. That makes sense. I'll have to use this time to make sure I'm a better applicant than 30 million people then!

308 is the nickname for the Offer of Service interview, the (hopefully) final check at the AFCO that a candidate is ready to enter Service. It comes from the Form 308, which is the Provisional Offer of Service paperwork; it lays out the basic terms to which you are signing up.

    Re: RAF Accepted!
Sorry I havent replied guys been getting mu stuff in order.
Sorry I havent got any idea when certain roles will be open, however currently available roles will be on the RAF careers website,
Also, if you check the RAF Career's twitter, they sometimes give tiny tiny spoliers about jobs coming available soon.
To register for updates about your chosen trade, speak to your AFCO or ring the 0845 number on the RAF careers website.

The 308 interview is the final interview which is like a very basic and cut down version of the initial interview. Revise everything you revised for your first interview and make sure you understand that after you length of service (usually 9 years), you are still a reserve for 6 years (depending on your contract).
This interview also goes over all the paperwork that needs to be completed for entry.
I was lucky, I had a very nice Flt Lt do my interview that answered all questions and made the paper work easy.

You will received PAM(Air)292 about a week before your 308 interview which lays out all of the Terms and Conditions you need to know and may be asked about during your 308 interview.

Thanks for all your support too guys

    Congrats!

Just enjoy basic, keep working on your fitness though!

You will make the best (no exaggeration) friends you will ever make during those 9 weeks! Oh, and if you want to know what to expect, type in AC Laura Skinner into Youtube and watch her video diaries! (I was on her intake, I'm on there a couple of times too :P)

    Take lots of clothes hangers.
    Take your own trainers.
Take LOTS of sweets - big morale booster during the bad times!
    Do what you're told.
    And you'll be great!
