Anyone know anything about BSc (Hons) Biotechnology?
At unis like Glasgow, Nottingham and Manchester?

How well do people do in this degree? Getting a 2.1 minimum is really important to me (as it is for everyone else :P )

These 4 universities don't require maths or IT, there's something about Biotechnology that strikes me as being very Maths/IT based?

Not a big fan of IT or Maths

If you know anyone/if you are doing Biotech in any of these universities, please send me a private message.

I'm in Glasgow doing Genetics, which is in the same degree group as Biotechnology, and I've considered a postgrad in biotechnology

The term technology would make you think it was maths/IT based but as far as I know it isn't so much. It is however very much about plant science and agriculture which a lot of people hate and find extremely boring. There's a lot of molecular biology of plants too, cell biology etc. And applying this sort of stuff to the real world to solve agricultural problems and such, food shortages etc.
I'd say the more mathsy area of biology is Bioinformatics.

I'd assume the majority of people who do this degree do well because it's definitely not a popular choice (most areas involving plants are extremely unpopular :P) so the people who do study it do well because it is something they genuinely love. Otherwise they would not have picked plants.

Edit: Also the teaching up here for the biomolecular degree group is simply spiffing if you ask me
